I remember when taking my communications courses in college one of the things discussed was how people communicate; especially when they disagree. While one person is speaking the other person has already formed their opinion/response; when they have not heard everything the person has said. It's very interesting because the other person could have said that they agreed with the other person. Preconceived ideas of what one is going to say can cause unnecessary disagreements. I've been a member here on AFF since 2007 and have not posted much; partly because I don't feel it is necessary to repeat what has already been said. On the other hand I try to take into consideration how and what I say will be received. I've seen several instances where one my say something and it is not received in kind, because those on the receiving end do not read the comment(s) in their entirety (assuming they know what it says), respond based on their personal feelings, and some just show a lack of respect for that perspective. Having said all that I think that for the most part there is a "peace" here on AFF, however, at times things can get a bit icy. Everyone should read comments in their entirety and in the context that they are stated; and if you don't understand don't attack the person, but ask for clarification. Sometimes it's hard to understand when you're talking on the computer.
