Also, most everyone already knows what hell is. The preacher rarely needs to devote an entire message to this subject, he usually just needs to mention that word. When's the last time you heard it mentioned in a church service prax?
Really? So the only way to preach Hell is to preach it over and over and over and over? Are you serious? And what does that have to do with what I said earlier when I did not say it should be preached over and over and over.

Almost everyone knows what heaven is, so I guess we should not preach that either? Come on, this is a biblical topic. Jesus talked about it. If you want to go to a well rounded church the topic is gonna come up.

Jesus mentioned it but it's wrong for us to mention it
Paul mentioned it but it's wrong for us to mention it
John mentioned it...

so they were all harping on hell "over and over and over" and driving the unstable to deeper depths of depression?

Well I disagree with a lot of what you said.

To preach hell is not the same as preaching it over and over and over.

One last thing, as I asked before "Who said anything about over and over and over" I also ask who said anything about devoting an entire message to hell? Not me.

As I said already there is no light without darkness. You can't mention light without mentioning darkness even by implication.
