This is at least one of the problems in this case... and I mean whether he is guilty or innocent of said charges.

Where is this from? Is this documented fact?

Something to consider, regardless of what the deacon's did, is that the IRS requires a 501(c)3 organization to be operated by a Board of Directors. This can't be changed. Eddie Long, or any chairman of a 501(c)3 corporation, is going to have held accountable to that board, no matter what. If one person is ever given complete control, they would lose their tax-exempt status.

Also, their "Deacons" may be a separate group from the Board of Directors.
