My Laptop

I wrote this in Bahia...then did not send it but in prayer this morning I thought maybe I should put it hear. I do not plan to send it out but if someone would like to help I would be deeply greatful...I seldom ask for myself as our world has far more important needs than this but to me it is important. If God feels to touch somone to help I will know He wants me to have one if not I do have a desktop here in our office but I did use the other one far more.

Here is what I wrote.


Dear Friend:

I hope this finds you all well and enjoying the rich blessings of the Lord. Great is the Lord’s faithfulness and His kindness to us through His people.
We are going through a nightmare trial as you know but we know God and truth will win out. Thank you for your faith in our 40 years of service in the work of the Lord.
I need a favor…lately that seems that all I write about and ask for is favors but I have no one to turn to except those that I feel are my friends.
A disaster happened today. My notebook (laptop computer) got dropped and literally broke into a dozen pieces. Most of you know I work almost day and night on the laptop getting bible studies for our people, doing office work and whatever needs to be done as we travel and wherever I am.
I cannot buy another one without your help. They are quite expensive here but sometimes a risk to buy in the states and bring over because of customs. I was praying and I thought of 12 people to send a letter to and ask if you could send me an offering to help me buy one here.
I cried when it first happened but it is just a thing of life. I really was sorry I cried in front of the people but guess lately the load has been so heavy my feelings just showed through but tonight I borrowed a computer here at the little hotel we are staying in tonight as we are on our way to the backlands of Bahia.I don’t know if you can help financially or not but even if you can pray a prayer I would deeply appreciate it.
Last Sunday we baptized 4 more precious souls in the lovely name of Jesus and another one asked to be baptized at our next baptismal service. We are so thankful for every soul that comes into this precious light.
The fierce fires of trials burn hotly however we will come out we will be pure gold. I was hurting the other day and the Lord spoke to me reminding me of the things people said about him that was not true and I heard Him whisper to me, do you think you are better than me? Oh no my Lord I said…I tucked his words in my heart as I got up from prayer and then the phone rang, a sister on the other end of the line said, “Sister Janice the Lord wants me to read Matt 5:10” Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. 11 Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. 12 Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.
She did not know I had been in prayer but the Lord had spoken to her 6000 miles away.
I know the Lord will speak to some of His precious children to help me. I love you folks and thank you for being an encouragement to our family especially at this time.

this I copied from the net...so they run 1,699 on up...All I need is the very cheapest kind as I use it mostly for typing Bible studies and letters and checking e mail as we travel.

Our money exchange is and this is only more or less because we have a floating money system...but more or less the cheapest runs about 1000 dollars...

I think a person is going to give me 500.00 or at least promised to. I don´t want to make a debt right now.
I did see a smaller one that was a little less than a 1000 dollars in a store but it does not have a dvd or cd player and you know I must watch my movies...ha...

I would be satisfied with that other one that is less than 1000 I don´t need a cd or dvd I just use it for letters and Bible Studies...

I feel like the Lord will touch several people if it is His will so it will not be a load on anyone.

The Lord blesses me with friends and everywhere I go if there is a computer at a hotel or about anywhere people are nice to let me use them.

What is the current story with your need?

I have a number of old(er) ones, the problem is that they all have at least one major issue. One that I have right in front of me is an old (2000) IBM Thinkpad T20. It has a wopping 384 megs and a 60 gig hard drive, along with a 700 Mh Pentium III processor (and DVD drive). It actually works pretty good except it's battery lasts about 20 minutes.

I am still running Windows XP Pro along with a student version of MS Office 2003......

It does not have any sort of wireless (although it DOES have a wired Ethernet port as well as a single USB port). This can be fixed however......

(Now I just finished reading your first post more carefully and see that it is a bit risky to send the actual machines....)

I don´t think customs would let me get it though the mail. If I were in the states I might could get it in but to ship it they could charge a lot at customs here. I will try to think of some way and let you know.
I don´t have to have anything fancy...I am a very simple person and just use it for work purposes.
I love helping our people especially with Bible studies.

I would even let you have one of our three MS Office 2003 licenses for it.
Basically it comes with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

I am deeply grateful for any help and the best thing I am not hard to please...Thank you folks for all you do for missions and especially for our family. I am deeply grateful for my brothers and sisters on this forum.
