Just pay back- I do not think Colin Powell is a good choice for Dept of Ed.
Was Holden involved with the Waco incident? I know he was in the Justice Dept. with J. Reno. I am reserving an opinion on that one.

Holden was asst. ag under clinton and he processed the pardon and dropped the ball on it. didn't give it serious consideration at the time and wishes he had since it became such a political hot button later.
powell reportedly isn't all the interested in taking an active role in the administration.
wasn't daschel a real partisan back during the gingrich days? i remember him as being almost anti-republican/conservative back in the day.

Daschel was a real partisian. To the point that the republicans made a point of picking him off. He was the Minority leader in the Senate then the Majority leader before losing his seat.
I really am baffeled by Powell being considered for Sec. of Education. Obama has some very strong ideas on Education and I would suspect he would have someone who agrees with those ideas and has a long history in the areana to take that post. Powell has no experience that I know of on the subject. None. Its just wierd.
I am a skeptic by nature and this just bothers me. Is Obama looking to appoint some real radicals to the Education dept but knows they cant go in at the top so he is picking someone who isnt contriversial to be the titular head while the radicals do the real work under the radar?

If Daschle was such a scrapper then I wonder why Republicans are on all the networks talking about how he's a 'perfect' and 'wonderful' choice?
