** Developing: Affirmation of affirmation? ****

A reliable source has stated that there are preliminary reports of districts requiring new and/or young ministers to sign a "new type" of affirmation ... that is distinct from the Westberg affirmation.

It appears that in this affirmation signees affirm their allegiance to the Holiness article only.

It also appears that this is an HQ suggestion or directive.

Questions by constituents possibly include: Why is an additional layer of affirmation needed when ministers already affirm their beliefs at licensure and every 2 years?

If this is a directive, what is its basis within the by-laws?

More forthcoming.

The UPCI is a human institution that has drifted from God and is primarily about politics and money. The UPCI appears to hinder ministers from following their God given convictions by forcing all this human red tape on ministers. Most of the time it's a bid to control the local church. I firmly believe that the UPCI has become excessive in this area.

In my opinion, when the UPC was formed in 1945 it was a well-intentioned political move to promote unity among Oneness Pentecostals. There had been fellowship among many of the ministers when they were in separate organizations and they could now accomplish more for the Kingdom by uniting. Of course, some from both groups --PCI and PAJC-- felt like they were compromising or perhaps losing liberty and some did not join or separated shortly thereafter.

In my opinion, it is much like the experiments of the legendary Dr. Frankenstien. He meant well. He thought he could help humanity as he developed his creature. However, the creature soon took on a nature of its own and terrorized the populace. It became a monster, much like the huge political/religious monstrosity we know today as the UPC. It has destroyed many and strikes terror in the hearts of many more.

Some would see the development and growth of the labor unions in this same way.

Does this mean the organization will for the first time have defined standards?

Numbers 1:25 - every man had his own standard, yet they were united as a nation.

Numbers 1:25 (King James Version)

25Those that were numbered of them, even of the tribe of Gad, were forty and five thousand six hundred and fifty.

How does this scripture fit your comment?

They want these guys to lie and say they dont' have a TV and will preach and teach against it .... which they all mostly do ...
to preserve a couple of lines that deal with uncut hair and makeup ... and say nothing about pants on a woman and jewelry?

It breeds liars for a poorly written holiness statement that does not truly exemplify the "values or identity of the culture"
