Pastor Jim Cymbala said THIS?? WOW!

Pastor Jim Cymbala , pastor of the Brooklyn Tabernacle, said this in a recent blog....

Quote:
The demons tremble, not when you sing “Holy, holy, holy,” but at the name of Jesus! ( Luke 4:41) (Philippians 2:9-11) (Acts 4:12)

WOW!! I cannot believe he said this!! He gets it!!

I am shocked that you are shocked that any Christian preacher would say this. You must really have a warped view of preachers outside of your little circle if you think what he said is unusual or strange.

"We did not wear uniforms. The lady workers dressed in the current fashions of the day, ...silks...satins...jewels or whatever they happened to possess. They were very smartly turned out, so that they made an impressive appearance on the streets where a large part of our work was conducted in the early years.

"It was not until long after, when former Holiness preachers had become part of us, that strict plainness of dress began to be taught.

"Although Entire Sanctification was preached at the beginning of the Movement, it was from a Wesleyan viewpoint, and had in it very little of the later Holiness Movement characteristics. Nothing was ever said about apparel, for everyone was so taken up with the Lord that mode of dress seemingly never occurred to any of us."

My thoughts exactly. Originalist, come out from among them and" get it " that you aren't the only one with understanding.

It's my understanding that Cymbala's father was a Jesus' name PCI minister. If I am wrong someone correct me.

I like Cymbala's messages. My favorite is "My House Shall Be Called A House of Prayer." I'm not surprised to hear him say that. His books are very good, I highly recommend them. The stories of people who come into Brooklyn Tabernacle and how it all started are really inspiring.

You guys do know that Originalist was an ordained minister in a very large non-oneness organization before he joined the oneness ranks?

You know what, Cymbala's quote shocks me too. He juxtaposed his statement on the Name of Jesus with single, most recognizable anthem that celebrates the Trinity. That is noteworthy, from a oneness POV.

As for Cymbala,'s understanding, he'd see the chaos of some oneness worship services and condemn it as out of order, at least in the past he would have.

Re: Pastor Jim Cymbala said THIS?? WOW!

I just wish I could have met the late Pastor David Wilkerson of Times Square Church in NYC before he passed. I enjoy listening to Pastor Cymbala's and Pastor David Wilkerson's sermons.
