Re: Thanks to AFF I met this guy, and I had some f

I mentioned him a few days ago. Not sure that's where you got it, but hey . . .

I took my teenage daughter to see him in Sacramento California. Sold out crowd, and . . . unbelievably--not a single disruption.

Dave Reuben was hosting the show. He was, for the most part, engaging about his "12 Rules" book.

There was a specific time though, where he was asked about whether or not he was a "Christian." He of course, takes that question perhaps more seriously than say "Christian" Barack Obama--who never once stood in the crucible of having to answer for his label.

Peterson acknowledged that he would have to believe in the resurrection, and that he was still searching it out.

Then, he did something that CS Lewis used to do, and was misunderstood for it: he reached for pagan literature and found parallels.

Lewis always thought that the pagan literature was superior to non-pagan secular literature, because it had the "imprint" of eternal things stamped in it. Like a computer with no screen-saver--the imprint of what always was become faintly burnt into permeance. It may not be expressed as something blatantly pagan--like Easter, but it contains the structural integrity of death and resurrection. Thus Lewis thought that the pagans were far better curators of literature than those that just disconnected themselves into a secular void.

Peterson did the same thing--only with Harry Potter--my problem is, I cannot find the brilliant synopsis he gave anywhere. and I am still looking for it. He contends that the book has the structural underpinnings as the gospel (and please, I'm not arguing for equivalence. Petersen is a unique cat. Supposedly, Petersen doesn't think Rowling made these parallels in a vacuum).

My daughter saw it immediately, as she has read the books. I tried, but got distracted years ago.

Now I feel I should try to find it. I was hoping audio existed of that night, but I only was able to locate a snippet.

I love the part when he says "I got you", and she is still thinking through it

That interview/moment put him into the stratosphere.

He has recently had major health concerns, mostly from the stress of endless conflict.

The contrast of his soft-spoken responses to the "My Name Is Legion" Auxiliary Division makes for uncomfortable awe. But it takes its toll on a man not leaning into Jesus for his support.

And yet, he is an example for Christians to emulate, for sure.

She probably went home, got out the Ouija Board and cried out for the "Demon of Justice to strike that man down!"

In later interviews he stated that in hindsight he regretted saying, "I got you".
He says that he thought it took away from her having a mindset change.
Or that is how I remember it.

Which again, illustrates a character to be emulated: express one's oversteps. Even apologize.

I seem to remember God feeling the same way about having made us.

Jordan Peterson on sodomite "marriage":

If the marital vows are taken seriously, then it seems to me that it’s a means whereby gay people can be integrated more thoroughly into standard society. That’s probably a good thing.

You mean this one?
The video also exposes the details of the Media machine in a real example.
