Re: Sikh Prayer At Close Of RNC's First Night
The RNC is trying very hard to be inclusive, bring everyone in, after the assassination attempt, Trump seems to have martyr status. It's almost a bit scary. If the RNC can take all branches of government, who knows?
The lesson of history is that Democracies typically become dictatorships.
Here's a list of democracies that have become dictatorships:
1. Germany (1933) - Weimar Republic to Nazi Germany under Adolf Hitler
2. Italy (1922) - Kingdom of Italy to Fascist Italy under Benito Mussolini
3. Chile (1973) - Democracy to Military Dictatorship under Augusto Pinochet
4. Argentina (1976) - Democracy to Military Dictatorship under Jorge Videla
5. Brazil (1964) - Democracy to Military Dictatorship under Humberto Castelo Branco
6. Greece (1967) - Democracy to Military Dictatorship under Georgios Papadopoulos
7. Turkey (1980) - Democracy to Military Dictatorship under Kenan Evren
8. Pakistan (1958, 1977, 1999) - Repeated military coups and dictatorships
9. Thailand (1957, 1976, 1991, 2006, 2014) - Repeated military coups and dictatorships
10. Egypt (2013) - Democracy to Military Dictatorship under Abdel Fattah el-Sisi
11. Venezuela (1999) - Democracy to Authoritarian Regime under Hugo Chávez and Nicolás Maduro
12. Russia (2000) - Democracy to Authoritarian Regime under Vladimir Putin
13. Hungary (2010) - Democracy to Authoritarian Regime under Viktor Orbán
14. Poland (2015) - Democracy to Authoritarian Regime under Law and Justice Party
15. Turkey (2016) - Democracy to Authoritarian Regime under Recep Tayyip Erdoğan
And of course ancient Greece and Rome

Re: Sikh Prayer At Close Of RNC's First Night
Very successful authoritarian rules allow religious freedom
1. *Persian Empire (Achaemenid and Sassanian)*: Known for their tolerance, the Persians allowed religious freedom for various faiths, including Judaism, Christianity, and Zoroastrianism. This was reflected in the Cyrus Cylinder (539 BCE), which proclaimed the freedom to worship for all religions.
2. *Early Islamic Rule (Rashidun and Umayyad Caliphates)*: Islam initially spread through the Arabian Peninsula and beyond, often through conquest. However, the early Islamic rulers generally allowed religious freedom for Christians, Jews, and other People of the Book (Ahl al-Kitab), considering them protected minorities (dhimmis). This was based on the Quranic principle of "no compulsion in religion" (2:256).
3. *Ottoman Empire*: The Ottomans, who ruled from the 13th to the 20th century, allowed religious freedom for various faiths, including Christianity, Judaism, and Islam. The millet system, established in the 15th century, granted autonomy to religious communities, enabling them to govern themselves and practice their faiths freely.

You put that together nicely.

All true. Do you see this happening for the United States? Returning to conservative values and a religious revival of all faiths?

I think the US is going to get spanked.
The pendulum is swinging back to one extreme. Hitler campaigned on family values.
Most people in the west don't have a clue what's going on.

I think there would have to be a crises big enough that people would trade freedom for a deliverer.
Like Nazi Germany, depression, inflation, political instability, the stab in the back thing, and a very charismatic, popular, beloved leader.

That sounded just as bad as when the fake j3ws recite Hebrew.
