Finding your place.....
My pastor is always telling us that everyone who is holy ghost filled has a calling-- and should seek to find out what God has called them to do in his kingdom.
I know that my "ministry" at the current time is to work with the "Young at Heart" Seniors group.
It's not the only thing that I do in my church, but it's where my heart seems to be.
Have you found your place to work for the kingdom of God?
Is there anything that you feel you have a special calling to do?

Re: Finding your place.....
I have been invited to several different churches to tell how God brought me from being an athiest to not just a Christian but saved-sanctified and filled with the Holy Ghost. I have gone to one babtist church and at the time they are wanting me to come back and give a devotional to a mens group. I have never spoken at a mens group before, ^^
It ought to be interesting.
I don't know if speaking to groups is what God has for me to do, but I do love telling how wonderful God is.

Sounds like your pastor and mine are on the same theme, girl...
Bro. S keeps stressing the fact that we are one Body, each member having a function... a place.

Re: Finding your place.....
I think mine lately Tina seems to be get up out of my selfishness and do something instead of just sitting in church. It has seemed to be really impacting my heart and some of it is due to a few people here at AFF. Quit sitting at home doing nothing. Get right, and spread the good news.

Re: Finding your place.....
Well, I'm pretty much a smart alec, so I say my ministry is to make people laugh!
I used to feel called to work with children and enjoyed it tremendously, but my life has taken some pretty weird twists and turns the last 10 or so years, and I am still struggling to find "my place in the world" and the church. I focused for a long time on raising my daughter, but I think that the serious work with that is done. Soooo, still searching.

Re: Finding your place.....
Thanks Lar. I think I got lazy and selfish and just wanted to sit and take instead of get up and give and share. Hoping to change that.

Just a thought...
I am thankful for the ministries in our churches and for all who lead. The testimonies of Tina and Adra are examples of invaluable church ministry.
However, I think we often undervalue the importance of those who in every place are a light for Christ - regardless of their official churchhouse appointment or teaching capacity. We should discourage the tendency to catagorize our daily lives and our "ministry". Our life and lifestyle IS our ministry whether pastor or elderly widow. God Himself has called us and placed us.
Is the impact of a Christian businesswoman on her peers of less significance than the Sunday School teacher on her class? Or is the Christian witness of the factory worker of less value than the Youth Pastor?
Perhaps we should ask, not only if we have found our place... but whether we are salt and light where we have already been placed by God.

Thanks... I was going to come back this afternoon and get into this... but today was my son's birthday and he needed my attention more than the thread.
Sometimes I'm not real good with words... but what you have posted is what I was wanting to bring out.... One person's ministry might be to lead a group of people. Another person's ministry might be to send someone a card of encouragement-- to be one who reaches God for the needs of others through intercessory prayer , yet another person's ministry might be that of a janitor who keeps the church cleaned, Another's place could be to witness to their co-workers by just living the life... etc...
It isn't just people who are in places of leadership that have a place in the ministry... it's ALL of us who call ourselves Christians. If we aren't being used of God in his kingdom-- it's not because HE doesn't want to use us. It's because we haven't found our place.
I don't know why I felt to start this thread, but I just felt strongly to do it. Even if I don't know exactly who it was meant for. Maybe someone needed to read what someone has posted, or is yet to post. Maybe someone who is reading it was feeling like they can't be used of God.... and needed to have someone tell them that God uses willing vessels. Just present yourself to God as a willing vessel--.
Enough rambling from me for the night... my son wants a bedtime story.
