Banana Nut Bread
Does anyone have a delicious banana nut bread recipe that they have made? I know I can get plenty of recipes from the internet but I had rather have one that someone has made. The last recipe I tried didn't have much flavor.
Thanks!

Re: Banana Nut Bread
This isn't the one that I use, but a guy at work made it and it's good. I'll post mine tonight.
Banana Nut Bread
Joseph Bouchard
1 ½ cup sugar
1 stick oleo at room temp.
3 ripe bananas, mashed
2 eggs
½ cup buttermilk
2 cups flour
¾ teaspoon soda
¾ teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla
½ to 1 cup pecans
Cream sugar and oleo together. Mix bananas, eggs and buttermilk together; add to first mixture. Combine flour with soda, salt and vanilla. Add to mixture, then add pecans.
Bake in two half pans, which have been well greased and floured. Bake at 325° for 1 hour or more.
Important to add ingredients as listed and do not use electric mixer.

Re: Banana Nut Bread
Was there some kind of demonic influence for the recipe of banana bread? I say throw rotten bananas away, not put them in bread!

I found one and tried on the internet that uses a yellow cake mix. It was good, but I adjusted it by adding a tablespoon of oil, and a teaspoon of vanilla.

Re: Banana Nut Bread
Sorry it took me a while -
Banana Nut Bread - Renda's mom's recipe
3 1/2 cups flour
1 T. baking powder
1 t. baking soda
1 t. salt
2 T. fresh lemon juice
2 cups, mashed bananas (4-6 bananas)
3/4 cup salted butter
1 1/2 cups sugar
3 large eggs
3/4 cup milk
3/4 cup pecans
Heat oven to 350 degrees. Prepare two loaf pans.
Sift flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Mix lemon juice w/bananas.
Beat butter and sugar until creamy, add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
Add dry ingredients to the butter mixture alternating with the milk. Fold in bananas and nuts.
Bake 50-55 minutes.

Re: Banana Nut Bread
OOOOOOHHHHHHHH MMMMMMMEEEEEEE! Renda, I want some now. I can taste it to this day! She made the best banana nut bread ever! Loved getting those care packages and getting to share it with you! Precious memories - my mom has tried numerous times to come up with one as good but she doesn't have it like your mom did! Don't get me wrong I haven't turned hers down but it still lacks your momma's touch! Thanks for sharing this!

Ah, thanks!
Mom always iced her's too, so you might want to add that. She just mixed powdered sugar and a little milk to make it thin and pour on while warm.......yummm!
