Wouldn't It Be Nice...
This is just a passing thought...
But wouldn't it be nice if we also had the letters that were written to the apostles and not just the answers they wrote back?
Then we would have both sides of the conversation and it might shed light on context many times.
But we don't... oh well.

Re: Wouldn't It Be Nice...
Our concepts of what those letters meant might change drastically if we had the letters written to the apostles as well as what they wrote back. Many people forget that the apostles may have written in response to letters they received.

Yes ma'am.
Instances such as "Now... concerning spiritual gifts" makes me wonder what their question was.
A discourse that ends in "But if any man seem to be contentious, we have no such custom, neither the churches of God. " is bound to be an answer to a question. I would love to hear what the question was on that one.
The list would be lengthy

I think people had a lot of questions back then, just as we do today.

Yeah, especially about women and their clothes and hair. Because apparently the men were naked and unashamed.

That's true, Sister Alvear. Just as they are finding people in the jungles of SA and putting them on TV shows.

I heard a rumor that Dr. Marvin Arnold has some of those old missing documents and is going to publish them in a sequel to his previous book, "Apostolic History Outline."
