Proposal to Close Gateway College
From DKB's newsletter:
Proposal for an Accredited Undergraduate Christian College
Gateway College of Evangelism has offered for Urshan Graduate School of Theology to acquire Gateway in order to start a new undergraduate program with the goal of accreditation by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.
In the summer of 2012 Gateway would close and the new entity would open under the administration of UGST. It would be a Christian college, different from a Bible college, offering the Bachelor of Arts degree in several majors including general studies. As part of UGST, it would be owned and operated by the UPCI and have a UPCI identity.
For more information and to provide input, go to http://www.upcicollege.org/. This proposal will be considered by the General Board, so you are also welcome to provide input to your district superintendent.

Re: Proposal to Close Gateway College
I find it an interesting proposal at a time when the UPCI org. seems to be in the middle of extreme belt tightening the last few years with many departments being done away with completely or their budgets slashed.

"We did not wear uniforms. The lady workers dressed in the current fashions of the day, ...silks...satins...jewels or whatever they happened to possess. They were very smartly turned out, so that they made an impressive appearance on the streets where a large part of our work was conducted in the early years.
"It was not until long after, when former Holiness preachers had become part of us, that strict plainness of dress began to be taught.
"Although Entire Sanctification was preached at the beginning of the Movement, it was from a Wesleyan viewpoint, and had in it very little of the later Holiness Movement characteristics. Nothing was ever said about apparel, for everyone was so taken up with the Lord that mode of dress seemingly never occurred to any of us."

I am not sure that the fiscal impact would be negative. There are some who will contribute because of the move and stated goals.

Including me.
This has needed to happen for decades.
Very exciting!

Re: Proposal to Close Gateway College
I think it's great. We need more legit schools with transferable credits and degrees that are usable outside of ministry. If they can accomplish that, more power to them.

Re: Proposal to Close Gateway College
Would it still be called Gateway College of Evangelism? Surely they wouldn't do away with the 40 yr old name...
