Building Scandals in the Obama Administration
Leak-gate is beginning to look more and more troublesome for this president. Both Democrats and Republicans are calling for thorough investigations into who in this administration has been leaking highly classified intelligence to the New York Times over a period of several months. It appears that whoever did it was attempting to make Obama look stronger and decisive on foreign policy issues and in the War on Terror.
The Department of Justice has hired two attorneys from within the DOJ to begin investigations but Republicans are calling for a more independent investigation, someone that both parties agree to, someone not from within the administration. If President Obama approved or was made aware of the intelligence leaks for political gain, he is in big trouble. This could be the proverbial straw that breaks the camels back in this election. The next few months leading up to the election could end up being a drip, drip, drip of bad news and information that causes voters to lose confidence in this president.
Then there's the Fast and Furious controversy. Eric Holder has been seemingly less than forthright or forthcoming with the information that the oversight committee in Congress has been asking for. Calls for his resignation are beginning to mount. If he knew about the program or there was a cover up seeking to insulate him or other top administration officials, it could get ugly for an administration that doesn't need more bad news or controversy.
Then there's the Commerce Secretary. Two accidents and a hit and run in one night. No drugs or alcohol involved. A lot of unanswered questions. No known history of medical problems. There's no reason to believe there's anything controversial here, but if once the facts come out there is something dubious going on here, again it could be evidence of an overall picture of incompetence, political cover ups and an administration that swore to be the most transparent in history, reneging on yet another promise in the era of Hope and Change.
The negative news about the economy is bad enough for this president. Pile on more bad news about leaks and scandals and strange accidents, this could be one long, hot summer for the White House. A real canary in the coal mine would be to see if key members of this administration begin to bail, resignations, people declaring they need to "spend more time with their family" or worse yet people being fired to alleviate political pressure.
If the liberal press gets put into the position of reporting the bad news as the negatives begin to mount...stick a fork in it. Obama's a cooked goose in November.
