Will Israel Attack Iran Before November?
I've heard and read on several occasions the speculation that Israel may attack Iran before November. The reasons are:
1. Should Obama get reelected, he will not be supportive of such an attack. He will want to continue to use diplomacy and sanctions and the UN to deal with Iran. Israel feels this hasn't worked to stop Iran from moving forward so waiting until after the election is too risky.
2. If they attack before November, Obama will have to be careful not to appear antagonistic against Israel because the race is tight and he needs all the support he can get. He cannot afford to alienate the Jewish vote of which he got about 60-70% of in 2008 I believe. There are large numbers of Jewish voters in Florida an almost must win state for either Obama or Romney. Many liberal Democrat Jews are big supporters of the Jewish state, so Obama would have to approach Israel's attack gingerly.
3. The recent attack on Israeli tourists in Bulgaria has been ardently linked by Israel to Iranian-backed Hezbollah. Israeli PM Netanyahu said yesterday that terrorism cannot be rewarded, so a response from Israel is absolutely necessary.
I believe it's going to happen. I'm sure they already have their plan drawn up. They are just waiting for the right time. When they attack it will not only be to knock out the nuclear capabilities, it will also be to cripple their military and their ability to respond.
This is going to be a major event. Of course, something could happen to alter it like a coup in Iran or faced with imminent attack, Irans leaders to save face and their own skin might yield and make concessions that satisfy Israel and the International Community.
I am in favor of Osrael doing whatever it takes to defend itself. The leaders of Iran are evil, fanatical extremists who believe they are called to destroy Israel and conquer the world with their radical form of Islam. Netanyahu and Israel's leaders seem to be the only world leaders that have a backbone in relation to Iran. Our president and the UN are fooling themselves into appeasement mode.

Re: Will Israel Attack Iran Before November?
I believe your right, not sure if it will be November or not, but they will strike, that have done it before when the international community failed to respond.
Now, lets add to that Egypt which has just elected a president who represents the Muslim Brotherhood, who are known for their support of terrorist groups and are anti-Israel. They have hinted of ending the long standing relationship the country has had with Israel.
Now add to that Syria is about to be overrun by ............... well thats the problem, we don't know. But it has already been stated that the main group behind the rebels are not Israel or American friendly. And they are to be likely less friendly to us since we didnt jump in and help them like we did Libya and others.

I hope they attack before November.
I would like to see BHO's response to such an event.

It will be the same as every president before him.
Condemn the attack in a public address, then go in his office, call them on the phone and say "congratulations on a job well done, anytime you need our statistical or logistical support or some more military supplies in the future, don't hesitate to call."

I would think them striking Iran a lot more probably than invading Syria, for any reason. Talk about imagination, where did you get that from? That would be the worst move strategically they could possibly make.

Have you seriously thought that through? With at least an ounce worth of common sense preferably. If not, lets try....... without your childish smarteleck attitude.
So here we go. Israel sends ground troops (yes, ground troops, since you can not destroy chemical weapons from the air) into a country where there is currently a civil war going on between a military that hates them and an armed rebel force that hates them among civilians that hate them while smaller factions of Al Qaeda are running around putting in their two cents worth of bombings.
Compound this by the fact that Syria has since moved some of their chemical weapons to an unknown location. So now you have Israeli ground troops running all over the place in this hostile environment.
Now compound that by the Hezbola who have been waiting on an opportunity to restart their campaign on a country whose ground forces are now preoccupied in Syria.
Now compound that by Syria's ally Iran, who, the last time Israel invaded Syria, sent troops, tanks, and aircraft to Syria.
Of course we also must take into account that this is not an 'in and out' mission. To 'secure' chemical weapons you either have to install an occupying ground force or ship them out, through hostile territory.
These are known facts based on current intelligence and precedent. Now tack on the unknown. How would Egypt react given its new leadership? Would Lebanon take advantage of the situation given its new leadership? What role would Russia play?
They can talk and threaten all they want to, but Israel hasn't survived unsurmountable odds all these years by being stupid.
