Re: 10 Pastors I'm Concerned About

I thought all the points were very good. The only one I am a little hesitant about is number 8 and even then it all depends on how you interpret what he is saying.

"We did not wear uniforms. The lady workers dressed in the current fashions of the day, ...silks...satins...jewels or whatever they happened to possess. They were very smartly turned out, so that they made an impressive appearance on the streets where a large part of our work was conducted in the early years.

"It was not until long after, when former Holiness preachers had become part of us, that strict plainness of dress began to be taught.

"Although Entire Sanctification was preached at the beginning of the Movement, it was from a Wesleyan viewpoint, and had in it very little of the later Holiness Movement characteristics. Nothing was ever said about apparel, for everyone was so taken up with the Lord that mode of dress seemingly never occurred to any of us."

Some excellent points stated very well. Great food for thought. Concerned about a pastor you know? Prayer is the greatest help there is.

i would add one more.

I am concerned with pastors who sacrifice doctrine for numbers.

too many of my friends are doing this. It makes me very sad.

Prayer and a stern rebuke. Remember, pastors are not above being corrected.

Re: 10 Pastors I'm Concerned About

None of us are above correction. There is something that needs to be corrected, tuned, or removed in all of our lives, I believe. Prayer is definitely one of the keys that will help us see those things clearly, and then the spirit of the Lord will give us the overcoming power to rise above the hindrances in our lives.

There are many, many, many issues facing Christians as a whole today... and my personal thought is this... pride is at the center of each and every one of those issues.

In fact, pride was the one abomination mentioned again, and again, and again all throughout scripture as something the Lord hates. And it is pride, or self-love, or the belief that we can do no wrong, etc., that will cause a multitude of other things to show up in our lives that are symptoms of the underlying disease of "pride".
