We are wells..My thought for the day.

I was reading and studying a few days ago and this popped in my head. Has anyone ever seen this?
In comparing us belivers as wells of living water.

John 4:
9 Then saith the woman of Samaria unto him, How is it that thou, being a Jew, askest drink of me, which am a woman of Samaria? for the Jews have no dealings with the Samaritans. 10 Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water.

Here, the woman is very suspicious of why a Jew would be talking to her -a Samaritan. So right away she is suspicious. (It was not yet her moment to know who she was talking to ). This makes me think of similarities of when the saved try to win a soul by condemation. "You need to repent of your sins! You should know better! You shouldnt be doing that!" (Not saying that we don't need to be aware of our sins, but its the way it is delivered) So, my point here is the spirit in how we apporach others can cause them to be suspicious of us and in turn lead them away from Jesus.
We come as wells..but not with living waters! That water is being blocked by something, repressed even.
( I am in no way stating that this is what Jesus was doing here)

11 The woman saith unto him, Sir, thou hast nothing to draw with, and the well is deep: from whence then hast thou that living water?
Again she is suspicious. She heard what he said but she still does't have the revelation of Him. And now she is saying " You came to the well, which is deep....and you didn't even bring anything to draw it out with? So, from where then do you have that living water?
She is looking at the natural thing (a bucket or whathave you). She is not able to see what He really means.
Again, just like us, when we come as shut wells it will cause the lost to be blocked from seeing the deep waters of life.
(again, not saying Jesus was doing that)

2 Art thou greater than our father Jacob, which gave us the well, and drank thereof himself, and his children, and his cattle?
Here she is under the impression that Jesus thinks he is better than them. (which He is, she still doesnt know yet) And she still doesnt trust Him.
Alot of times our condeming attitudes and approach can cause the lost to feel inferior to us. They feel we assume we are better than them if we do this or that.

13 Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again: 14 But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life. 15 The woman saith unto him, Sir, give me this water, that I thirst not, neither come hither to draw. 16 Jesus saith unto her, Go, call thy husband, and come hither. 17 The woman answered and said, I have no husband. Jesus said unto her, Thou hast well said, I have no husband: 18 For thou hast had five husbands; and he whom thou now hast is not thy husband: in that saidst thou truly. 19 The woman saith unto him, Sir, I perceive that thou art a prophet. 20 Our fathers worshipped in this mountain; and ye say, that in Jerusalem is the place where men ought to worship. 21 Jesus saith unto her, Woman, believe me, the hour cometh, when ye shall neither in this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem, worship the Father. 22 Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews. 23 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. 24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. 25 The woman saith unto him, I know that Messias cometh, which is called Christ: when he is come, he will tell us all things. 26 Jesus saith unto her, I that speak unto thee am he. 27 And upon this came his disciples, and marvelled that he talked with the woman: yet no man said, What seekest thou? or, Why talkest thou with her? 28 The woman then left her waterpot, and went her way into the city, and saith to the men, 29 Come, see a man, which told me all things that ever I did: is not this the Christ?

And now she sees!!!

Pro 10:11
The mouth of a righteous man is a well of life: but violence
covereth the mouth of the wicked. An example of the comparison of a well and man.

Gen 29:2
And he looked, and behold a well in the field, and, lo,
there were three flocks of sheep lying by it; for out of that
well they watered the flocks: and a great stone was upon the
well's mouth. This shows that a well is shut, the waters stopped, by a stone.
2 Kings 3:25
And they beat down the cities, and on every good piece of land cast every man his stone, and filled it; and they stopped all the wells of water, and felled all the good trees: only in Kirharaseth left they the stones thereof; howbeit the slingers went about it, and smote it. Here again, wells are stopped or according to strongs, "stopped up".

More examples.

Prov 16:22
Understanding is a wellspring of life unto him that hath it: but the instruction of fools is folly.
Prov 18:4
The words of a man's mouth are as deep waters, and the wellspring of wisdom as a flowing brook.
Isaiah 12:3
Therefore with joy shall ye draw water out of the wells of salvation
1Peter 2:17
These are wells without water, clouds that are carried with a tempest; to whom the mist of darkness is reserved for ever.

I got to thinkin', aren't we also called stones of the church?
In 1 Peter chapter 2.

I feel like there is something there, about us being "stones" and wells.
And to walk in flesh is comparable to a well that is stopped up by a stone.
And to walk in fullness of the Spirit, we are as wells springing forth living waters.

Anyway, that's my thoughts ( unfinished although, still a work in progress) thoughts for the day!

Re: We are wells..My thought for the day.

We are indeed called "living stones".

There are typically two types of wells:

1.) Natural springs that burst forth with water from underground. The water is usually pristine, cold, and great to drink.

2.) Man-made structures dug into the ground to facilitate the gathering of underground water, either with a pump, or a rope and bucket.

How this fits, if it does, into your insight, I'm not so sure.

But God bless you as you seek greater knowledge and revelation. Please continue to share!
