Thumbs up for the UPCI. THUMBS DOWN SPS
Sex Dispute Has Pentecostal Society Scrambling
The Society for Pentecostal Studies (SPS) is scrambling to make alternative arrangements after the host institution for its annual meeting withdrew just weeks before the gathering is to occur.
Urshan College of Florissant, Missouri, which is affiliated with the United Pentecostal Church (UPCI), was set to host the gathering of the largest and most prominent academic society within the Pentecostal tradition. Citing the presence of a gay activist on the conference speaker schedule, the school withdrew their invitation to SPS on Monday.
Among the scheduled presentations announced two weeks ago for the SPS meeting is a session on gay Hispanic Oneness Pentecostal history by Felipe Agredano. Agredano is a Hispanic Oneness Pentecostal who is also a politically connected LGBT activist.
SPS officials have defended the participation of Agredano as a speaker, despite SPS bylaws placing the society within the tradition of Pentecostal churches – a tradition that historically proclaims the proper context of sexual intimacy to be within marriage between a man and a woman.
“After an effort by both sides to find a way forward, we agreed that the best course of action was to move forward with the annual meeting without Urshan’s role as host,” the SPS Executive Committee wrote to society members earlier this week. “Urshan has offered their apologies and to assist SPS in securing alternate venues and human resources needed for the Conference.”
“There also appears to be misinformation among some Urshan constituents about SPS, our mission, goals, and objectives as a Society,” the SPS officials added. “We regret that it has come to this conclusion.”
The SPS officials appear to have been referencing a vigorous discussion on social media in recent weeks among UPCI members. UPCI General Superintendent David K. Bernard weighed in on Facebook and also addressed a letter to fellow ministers.

The Society for Pentecostal Studies has made a big mistake, and the UPCI has wisely chosen not to be involved in that mistake. Good show UPCI, and shame on the Society for Pentecostal Studies. School's out for those jokers.

That's disturbing. Cracks in the wall. Siege engines will be arriving soon...

Elijah: Terribly sorry for all the falling fire and bloodshed that happened when all your false prophets were slain....Tell you what let's pick ANOTHER mountain and have a redo.

Yes, I did notice that, but isn't that where we as Christians try to be nicer than Jesus?
I often wonder why we ( well maybe not we) try so hard to be viewed a specific way by the culture around us? I mean, no disrespect to Brother Bernard, but I would of told the SPS to get their situation together, get it all tightened up. That they most certainly lost their ever loving Pentecostal minds when they decided to let a confused individual to address the group. I'm glad the UPCI walked, but would of hoped they told the SPS to secure their own alternate venues, and don't come back until they apologize.

In a righteous world, such could occur. In a world where the IRS holds out tax exemptions in front of churches and organizations like a carrot on a stick, and arbitrarily goes after any church or organization that they find is guilty of "hate speech', any and all churches and organizations that want to protect their assets from assailing IRS agents, unfortunately believe they need to walk a line not given to them by the Lord in order to keep the exemption.

In fact a "church" doesn't need a 501c3. Because a "church" never required a 501c3 because it is a church. Now, that I got that out of the way, here are some more facts, to not have issues with same gender marriage is not to marry anyone outside of your church family. Never offer or accept to marry anyone who is not in right standing with the bylaws of your church family. Same goes for having confused people teaching your congregants, or speaking from your church platform. That sets a precedence which will bite you hard in the stern. So, to avoid nonsense and stupidity in the future, one must have zero tolerance on issues.

Are you actually suggesting that if we actually followed the Bible, we would actually escape being actually caught up in the confusion of this world system?
Imagine that...
