My Take On Illegal Immigration
I think that the press gives these illegals a free pass. They are not immigrants. They are illegal immigrants. It is not racist to say so.
It is an embarrassment to the U.S. of A. to allow illegals to overflow our borders, tax our education sytem, send their earnings back to their home country - tax free, and then whine and moan and complain about how mean America is. The demonstrations in Chicago last year should have been halted completely. To me that was a foreign power threatening our interests.
I am for the border fence, for deportation, for proper documentation, and for LEGAL immigration. I have no problem with any ethnicity. I have a problem with those who literally steal our countries resources, whine about border enforcement and then wave their flags in our faces.
There was a time when immigrants cherished their heritage, yet melted into the fabric of the country. New Age tolerance no longer allows this. We are told to coddle them now.
President Bush is a joke for wanting to grant them amnesty. He is selling us out. This is a huge drain on vital infrastructure that TAXPAYERS provide.

Ignorance ... study after study shows that an amnesty would ADD TO THE TAX BASE .... bring more net tax revenue ...

Who cares? They are here illegally, and that makes them criminals. Send out the national guard. How hard is it to follow the law?
I heard a figure.....don't know how accurate it was..... that over 16,000,000 are here illegally. What happened?

It's a double standards. We tell ALL the world to wait...come here legally and then we hand amnesty to millions of Mexican immigrants. What does that tell them about us or how serious we take laws? Our laws are subjective. We are no longer really republic. This trend is seen in activist judges too.
I have a roomie that came here from El Salvadore...LEGALLY! He had to wait of course for his time. Imagine how he feels finding out that he could have came here earlier and gotten on a faster path to citizenship that what he is doing now?

What part of "they're here illegally" do people not understand? I'd be interested in knowing how they managed to determine that there actually are 16 million people here illegally and, if they know they're here, why the government hasn't enforced the existing immigration laws.

Here you go again taking my statements out of context.  Good grief.
You stated that the ILLEGALs are more than willing to pay; you said they didn't want free amnesty and are ready and willing to pay the penalties for their lawless behavior.
I simply posted a news statement I heard from a popular activist here in PHX who disagrees with you and wants the bill scrapped and a new bill written that gives amnesty for free.
I didn't post it as a source of statistical fact, it's just news.

Those studies usually ignore the all the extra people collecting SS and Medicare etc etc not to mention that if they become citizens they can bring their families over who will also be allowed to collect SS, Welfare and Medicare etc etc.
Also, what happens when they become legal and decide to join a union and demand higher pay and health benefits? The cycle starts all over again with looking for illegals to higher, who then will demand amnesty again
Paying taxes too does not decrease our over crowded schools

More mid-western extremism .... you made an argument .... that was faulty.
I believe in securing the borders .... but w/ the Social Security deficit and most of these illegals contributing to the economy ... it only makes sense ....
btw ... many are already paying taxes ... consumer taxes ... and many have tax id numbers ... would you deport all of them ... do you have any idea what that would do to our economy ....
USE COMMON SENSE ..
