How do you measure success?
In your opinion, what determines whether a ministry is successful or a flop?
By "ministry" I mean all types of Word ministries whether you are a preacher, pastor, home bible study teacher, youth worker, sunday school teacher, prison ministry, nursing home ministry, etc.

From a "ministry" perspective:
Faithfulness and commitment in carrying out the calling on one's life and the plan and purpose of God.

I suppose the true success of a ministry is measured by the standard of the one who is the Master of the servant. Has the servant been faithful over the few things the Master has left in his or her charge? It's required in stewards that a man be found faithful, so God is judging our works according to our faithfulness to Him.
One plants, another waters, but regardless, it's always God that gives the increase. If we don't see the end result based solely upon our labors, that doesn't mean we've just been a flop in God's eyes. We're not giving the account for everybody else's deeds, just our own. Maybe somethings God has us do are for our own benefit and to test our attitude.

This thread reminds me of a story I heard about of an evangelist that put up a tent for a revival in a small town in California. He preached to just a handful of people the first week and nobody came to the alter. On the last night of the revival, a young man came to the alter and received the Holy Ghost.
This preacher thought of the revival as a failure, as only one person was saved!
As it turns out, this one young man became a preacher and won hundreds to the Lord as an evangelist.
He married and had five sons who grew up and became a family music group called 'The Katinas'! The Katinas have reached thousands with their music and message!
If you look back, that small tent revival was a huge success!
Now you know the rest of the story!!!

Perhaps the measure of success is qualitative, not just quantitative.
