Purely for Ronzo

While in Maine recently I could not decide to buy a box of Yodels or Devil Dogs.

I schlepped the Yodels in a WalMart bag and stowed them overhead on 3 seperate aircraft when flying home. My wife threatened me that they would be stale and hard before I ate them.

They lasted almost a week.

I thought of you when I picked them up at the store.

I am curious, since Hostess and Drakes were at one time the same company, are HoHo's the same as Yodels and are Ring Dings really Hostess cakes or are they actually using the reciepe stolen when they merged?

Sadly I never could find a Entenmann's cheese danish. I was too far up the coast to even find fresh Wonder Bread.

The main plant is in Bayshore, NY.

The Lite Cakes were started in Los Angeles and actually tested in the Freihofer's bakery in Albany when they merged FH and Ent.

Sadly, they sold the rights and the bakery in LA to Bimbo Bread and the taste is no where near what it was back East.

Maybe they ruined it back East too. I understand the FH bakeries were mostly all closed too!

Hostess Ding Dongs ... are a cheap knock-off off Drake's Ring Dings ... yet when I've got the urge ... I often settle for mediocrity.
