Are you a thermometer or a thermostat
A Therometer has but one function. It tells you the temperature where the meter is placed. I know of a city where the airport is on a flat plain with few trees. Coldest place in the world in the winter, and yet 2 miles away in the trees, buildings and somewhat shelter of civilazation, it is sometimes 10 degrees warmer in the winter. I am also aware if you seek some online sources for our local weather, you get the news from the airport, 33 miles North. It can be fogged in or rainy at the airport. At that same time here it is sunny and pleasant. Thermometers in the sun tell it is hotter than it really is. For the sun warms the entire area hotter than the ambient- hence sometimes "XX in the shade" is not what the thermometer says.
Thermostats on the other hand have dual functions. They find the temperature with a thermometer and THEY CHANGE it. Too hot, they can request that heat be removed via air conditioning. Too cold, they request the heat be turned up.
How is your relationship with others? Do you complain about those around you, or do you make an effort to make change. If someone is "taking too much heat," do you lift them in prayer or give them a smile and encouraging word?
Quick thought and work in progress.....

You could add a thought that I passed on to Jeremy Foster as chapter two...
Are you a light or a reflector.. too often we strive to be reflectors that we may be a "reflection" of all Jesus is... that is not Biblical.. we are called to be "Lights"... and should be transparent enough as Christians that the light which is Jesus that abides is in us is seen by all. The danger of being merely a reflection is that a reflection shows "WhatEVER" it happens to be around. That might explain why some are able to be one thing in a Sunday night service and something all together different on the job on Monday. They are reflectors instead of lights.

The only real accurate way of reading a thermometer is to use several (as many as you can) of them and then take the average.
