Generation X,Y, & S?
I heard on the radio the other day where the talk show host was chatting with someone who said that the generation coming up now is referred to as Generation "S" it stands for "Spoiled!"
This Generation is used to electronic toys such as Ipods, cellphones, & just about anything else you can think of.
The parents rarely deny thier kids things (too bad my kids got one who did ) and we are going to see an impact from these selfish kids.
What are your observations?
Is this truly a generation "spoiled?"
I shudder thinking about the long term consequences.

I think it has made us a "narcissist" society and YES I see it bleeding into the church.
Ron, I read that the up and coming money making business was owning - storage units! We have so much stuff we have to store it!!!
There is nothing wrong with our economy. It is our greed!!

I see kids as young as 6 years old walking to school with thier Nintendo DS &
oblivious to the world around them.
This also seems to be a Generation that is sadly lacking in manners.

Disney is also responsible for society treating animals with human qualities!
Let's not eat Cattle, or Deer, or any other animal.
While I am against animal cruelty--they are just animals without souls.
Woa, that outa upset someone.

Re: Generation X,Y, & S?
It is so sad that children today have an attitude of entitlement (sp?). Not only that, but, they do tend to be rude to their elders. There was a time in our church (much smaller at the time) that any of our close friends knew (as did our children) that if WE weren't around.....Uncle Bob, Nanny, etc. could correct them and we expected that they behave....if not.....well, we never had to enforce that come to think of it.
Now, FF to 2003 when I was helping with a Christmas Musical for the children. Little boy crawling under the chairs, harassing the other kids, etc. I made him get in a chair and stood beside him so he couldn't get out in the aisle. He got so out of control that I took him into the next room (left door open). This 5 year old kid threw a CHAIR AT ME! Mother was called (member of the church) Comes in, kid is crying (because he couldn't get his way) and the mom asks me "What did you DO to him? He has never acted like this before!" Well, according to his grandmother the reason he had never acted like that before was because he had never been corrected!
So sad. One day these children are going to find out that LIFE has RULES!

Re: Generation X,Y, & S?
There was just a report on the evening news about how "manners lessons" are making a big come-back because they're not being taught in the home and the parents are desperate. So they pay $50 per lesson, per child to teach the kids decent table manners. (they family they highlighted had FOUR kids! That's $200 for one lesson!!)
PLEASE!! How hard is it to say to your children at the dinner table that we pass the food to our right; we use a napkin not our sleeves; we chew with our mouths closed; we don't tell the cook that the food is "Yuck!", etc. etc. etc. Who is the parent, after all????
Good grief!

I have eaten with families that eat off of each others plates! Lord, that makes me sick.
