Our angels
I was watching a message preached by Stoneking on youtube. I think it was called 'Angels and other unusual things' (?). He stated something on there, and I was wondering what you guys think about it. He said that our own personal angel looks just like us. He based this upon an experience his friend had, and he also used the scripture where Peter was knocking on the gate and they said "It can't be him, it must be his angel!" I always thought this meant they believed it was Peter's spirit because they thought he was dead!

If I remember correctly, it was something along the lines of his friend visiting someone in the hospital. The woman talked to him the next day, and said that she was very grateful to him because he stayed with her in the hospital all night. The man informed her that indeed, he had not been there all night.
The woman insisted that he had, because she kept waking up and looking across the room to see him sitting in a chair. They therefore concluded that it must have been his lookalike angel

When my wife was working at a hospice center, stories like this were rather common. Granted, they usually ended with a persons demise, but the WAY it happened was usually unbelievable. There were always a couple of "bad" deaths but more often then not they were extremely peaceful with various supernatural occurrences.

I would take anything Stoneking says with a grain of salt. Hes been pointed out many times here on this forum for preaching odd doctrines when it comes to angels, hair, and supernaturalism using his own videos and audio sermons. Most of the threads are deleted now because they got so hot since he has his fanboys/girls, but imho LS tends to be overly sensational to feed into the folks who like the "woo woo" type of Pentecostalism. One of our harder hitting brothers on the moderate/liberal side of the ring made this site mostly to deal with him and a few others like RR http://holymagichair.com/wordpress/

Re: Our angels
You know, all I heard about him growing up was how annointed he was as a preacher. A year ago after getting back in church, I decided to look him up and finally watch him preach. I was very excited because I felt I was going to get something from it (like everyone else talks about) Well, I had found the sermon on youtube about HMH. I was verrrry disappointed.
Then a few days ago, I decided to give him another chance. I was like "Hey, he's just a man and he's allowed to be wrong on things". I started watching this new sermon and was thoroughly engrossed in it until he made this point. Even the audience members got really quiet after he said this, and he quickly changed the subject. I'm just so....disappointed.
Oh, and the articles on that website made me very sick to my stomach.

Re: Our angels
If an angel looks like us, then we must be made in the image and likeness of our angel, who was created long before we were. Unless, of course, God is still creating angels whenever a new baby is born. Or, does God re-work existing angels to look like those they are to serve? Or, if you should get a second angel for a while, is that angel re-worked too? Then what happens to that (those) angel(s) when you die? Do they get re-worked all over again - or do they remain looking like you forever? So, how would one tell you for your angel in heaven?
These are just a few of the kinds of foolish things that results when one allows their imagination to run wild, and insert such speculations into their preaching/teaching. It does not edify, it confuses - know where that comes from?
This is also a sign of when a preacher really doesn't have anything of value to say, so they fill in their time with zany stories.
