I think we should. I was just thinking about the threads on preaching against sin or preaching on hell. If we had the gifts operating would we need to? The Lord can just speak to the Pastor or someone about another person's sins and the pastor can confront that person in private. I know if I was living in sin that would get my attention.

Or a powerful message in tongues and interpretation? We can let the Lord do it while the preachers just preach other things.

BTW where do the gifts really operate? What kind of church?

The gifts today operate very rarely, be it oneness Pentecostal, trinitarian Pentecostal or charismatic type 'churches'. Going charismatic doesn't cause the gifts to be more frequent any more than charismatics going Pentecostal would cause the gifts to be more frequent.

The gifts operate in the lives of individuals, not some religious organization or label.

I wasn't using the word Charismatic doctrinally, but rather to emphasize the gifts. I think we need to emphasize the gifts more, let them operate and expect them.

I agree the gifts should be operating within the body of Christ much more than the rare and sporadic occurrences which we see today. To have the gifts working would bring many who don't know Christ into relationship with Him and would also strengthen the faith of those who do know Him. Within my lifetime I guess Bro. Branham operated with more of the gifts than anyone else I'm aware of. I'm not sure why....maybe it's just a God choosing whom He will and bestowing the gifts according to His knowledge and wisdom. And no, I'm not a 'Branhamite'.

My guess is that the gifts are generally not present within the body because of a lack of dedication and consecration to God though....at least that's probably the reason I don't see them in my personal life as I would like. Truly operating in the gifts is serious business with God and aren't for show, profit or the exaltation of the individual.
