Work 101: What do you do?
Inspired by the Geography thread...
What is your occupation? Put your location, if you like.
How did you get into it?
Is it what you were originally trained in/got your degree in?
Any interesting career moves/changes along the way?
I'll go first:
I'm currently a bilingual 4th grade teacher, but have recently been hired to teach middle school Spanish at an International Baccalaureate program in east Texas. I was originally planning to jet out of this area pretty quick, but I think I'll like this job, so might stick around for a while. My new job is actually slightly more applicable to my degree, which was Spanish literature. I'm not old enough to have too many career moves yet, but might if the money's right

Hello. My name is Felicity. I'm a pastor's wife.
The only training I ever received was on my knees since I wasn't born into a pastor's home and my parents were never involved in ministry. I went to Bible School for 2 years, but there was no training there and very little shared with us girls at all of what a woman who married a man called to ministry should or could expect her life to be.
We had to learn as we went.
I've also always worked in the office and have been personal secretary to my husband for most of our ministry until the past couple years or so. He now has a secretary who I have to go through to talk to my husband unless I call him on his cell.
I've always been involved in leadership in the church - always by request excwept for the initiative I took in organizing Ladies prayer and Bible Study. I love that! It's definitely my comfort zone.
Some of the positions I've held through the years ......
Personal secretary.
Church office secretary.
Womens ministry leader.
Choir director.
Music ministry leader.
Church Admin Asst.
The proper example of how to act and respond in every facet of life to the churches we pastored and the young pastors and pastors wives who worked with or under us.

You could probably be a CEO with all that experience! So, do you now utilize your husband's cell phone number more than you otherwise might?

So, what does that entail? Filling the orders? Selling? I'm interested. I used to want to go into publishing, but haven't pursued it.

I supervise a staff of around 20. We receive and house books. We ensure that the product is inventoried correctly and process and ship items that customers order. We even assemble raw materials into items that are eventually sold.
I am not normally involved in the selling process unless we take a portion of our inventory to conventions to sell. In that circumstance I double as a sales rep.
