Today (Sunday) marks 10 years for us being in Salina, KS as pastor.
It's been a wild ride, let me tell you, but I wouldn't trade it for anything. God has brought us through so much, but more importantly, He has TAUGHT us so much more.
To me, it is amazing that He could take 2 young, dumb, Jesus freaks, and make something out of them. (well, at least He did the Skinner, He's still working on me....) He's been better to me, than anything else I know, to borrow from a song.
We have found love and been loved far more than we ever deserve. These people are wonderful and have made our time in Salina the greatest. They have stood with us through good times, bad times, in times of sickness, trouble, joy, sadness, laughter, growing pains, times of indecision, and just plain ole ignorance at "running" a church. They are going to get more jewels in their crowns, than they know what to do with. It will be so heavy they have to carry it instead of wear it!!!!
Sometimes God sends you somewhere to "build a church" but sometimes He sends you somewhere to "make a man ( and woman.) Sometimes I've wondered if He hadn't dropped us in the desert to fend for ourselves, and then I've wondered if He hadn't completely lost His mind, cause, I sure didn't know what He was doing or where we were going, but, I have to say, HE DOES!!!!!
What a tremendous blessing to be called of God to be the shepherd over a flock. It's not always easy, not always, fun and pleasant, but ALWAYS worth it. I wouldn't trade "professions" if I could. I love being a pastor's wife. They on the other hand probably wish I would get another job, but....fat chance on that.
Anyway, we're gonna HAVE SOME CHURCH TODAY!!!!!!!!!
