BMI

How many of you take the sin of gluttony seriously? If people would get their BMIs in a healthy range, that along with some other healthy habits would go a long way towards cutting down costs of health care.

my doctor tells me:

a healthy (best longevity) BMI for women is 22-23,

and a healthy (best longevity) BMI for men is 24-25.

http://www.livestrong.com/tools/body-mass-calculator/

for people who train hard with weights, the BMI can be a little higher.

Re: BMI

Naw, the only sin one can commit against their body is smoking or drinking. Go and eat all you want! You don't even need to exercise. You can even joke about it from the pulpit!

Re: BMI

by Doug Collins Obesity is an epidemic!

We’ve all seen the statistics about the global obesity situation. The alarm bells have been sounded and we are told this global epidemic is going to get worse before it ever gets better.

Lets take a look at the situation and facts

According to World Health Organization (WHO) there are approximately 1.6 billion overweight or obese people in the world; as compared to a total population of 6.8 billion globally. The WHO has projected that by 2015, almost 2.3 billion adults will be overweight and more than 700 million will be obese.

The latest statistics in the USA show that Obesity rates have reached epidemic levels with 58 million being overweight; 40 million considered obese; and 3 million morbidly obese. This means that eight out of ten people over the age of 25 are overweight.

It is also estimated that in the USA alone more than $30 billion a year is spent on weight loss products and diet programs, with one in three adults reportedly trying to trim pounds. But despite all this effort the statistics is indicating that the obesity numbers continue to rise.

Re: BMI

both my sister and myself needed to lose weight when we were in our sleeves down to the wrists, dresses down to the ankles, hair down to the knees stage in life.

now we both run, swim, lift weights, walk on the beach, and have a much healthier lifestyles.

Everyone has the right to be obese if they want....except those who are doing it on my or your dime. Stand in a McDonalds parking lot in some parts of any city, and you will observe several obese single mama's towing their children into the so-called restaurant, enabled by your tax money. I live right next to a Section 8 (free housing) "family". Is it wrong to mention they are so-called "minority?" They don't work, but they sure do EAT, judging by their sizes. Neither do they mow their lawn. When the weeds get or 12 to 18inches high, "the city" comes in to mow it down for them, for free. Not kidding.

A lot of times single mothers have to raise their kids on cheap high caloric, high fat foods. Using the term brood mares and litters imply they are animals. Please use your words carefully in the future. I will edit your post for you if you can't. A lot of them work very hard to raise their families.

You Saved me a repeat of the previous post stated by "untraditional": "we can also check pride, strife, and lying as well"...

I just loved the way Marcbee, threw the insults around...

I have said what I said. A metaphor such as "brood mare"
is too offesive for AFF? Then go ahead and edit my post. This will be my last post forever on AFF. Wish there were really a way to unsubscribe, rather than hearing, "Well, just don't browse over here." A layer of inaccess would be way easier, please. I have an idea! Please "Ban me," Cindy. Then I'm REALLY unsubscribed, correct? Or do I need to insult someone to be banned, rather than using an edgy metaphor such as "brood mare?"

Please note I did not refer to HARD WORKING SINGLE MOTHERS. I referred to lazy single mamas who don't work, and are supported by tax dollars due to their choices to have a litter of babies supported by the government.

People get overwhelmed in life and do not know of a way out. Some of these women you are referring to do get caught up in looking for a man to help them out, and just end up with losers. To compare them and their children with animals is not right. You will not be banned to stop you from posting.
