Most Christian TV Programming Gives Me the Creeps
I can't stand hardly to watch any of it! Why do so many of these TV personalities come across so cheesy and phony? There are some ppl on the air I like, but most of the preachers, talk show hosts, singers and musicians just don't seem real, they seem so rehearsed and cliche. I don't want to seem judgmental, I just try to think what does the average American viewer think when they watch these odd folks do their church stuff? It just seems like such a performance and a show. Forgive me if I'm wrong. But some of it sickens me. Especially the guys who manipulate people for money with their special "seed offering" appeals or "God said give $207". Its shameful.

True, but everyone channel surfs and no doubt many stop and watch out of curiosity. Kind of like the bearded lady at the fair. You really aren't there to see her. You're there for the rides and the cotton candy but the sideshow piques your interest. What's unfortunate is that much of what is on tv are Pentecostals of different stripes. And most of them I don't want to be associated with or even categorized with.

Last night there was a talk show with four "prophets" and there was so much pride and cockiness about their "gift" and the crowd going "ohhhh" and "ahhhh" with every little insight. One man said he predicted the Egyptian revolution and Gabby Giffords assassination attempt without offering any proof. Another guy talked about how powerful he was. The host, a prophet himself, responded to each man's statement as though they were the ones who were deeper and more in tune. I don't know, it just seems to me that the more gifted you are the more humble you'd be, and it just didn't strike me thst way.

yea i know what you mean. there was like 3 of them that took a trip to israel and did a live television show there, and while on TV one felt lead to give this huge prophetic utterance. as though him being in israel made him some how more closer to God or something.
It hit me hard, people pump money into another mans vacation fund, and when they get there. they give this message,
O the time is near. its hard to stomach, some of their preacher are very good but once they get on about sowing a seed its time to turn it off.

I like James Robinson and the guy from Singapore, I think his last name is Prince. I agree with you on the creepy stuff.

Re: Most Christian TV Programming Gives Me the Cre
Our cable network dropped TBN several years ago so our only religious station is basically Catholic...
I enjoyed some of the programs 20 years ago___________

Re: Most Christian TV Programming Gives Me the Cre
Ya, I can stand about 10 seconds of TBN at a time. It feels like I am watching a much cheaper version of the Labor Day telethon.

Re: Most Christian TV Programming Gives Me the Cre
Which is why the upc was opposed ,originally, to tv programs ,this is what it eventually leads to ,nothing is accomplished and almost no one is reached imo.
