Help Me With My New York City Vacation
I am leaving for NYC tomorrow with my wife and two teenage kids. We
plan on seeing a Broadway production while we are there. We are needing
to pick from one that would be family friendly and that has discount tickets
available. A few shows that have discount ticket available are as follows,
please give your opinion if you have ever seen any of these shows:
Les Miserables
The Phantom of the Opera
Mama Mia
Tarzan
Thanks for your help

I have seen both Les Mis and Phantom... either of them would be suitable and enjoyable. I lean toward Les Mis.

Thanks for the input. I can get discount tickets for Les Miserables at about
$56 per ticket for orchestra level. Normal price is $110 per ticket. I never
realized how high tickets to a Broadway production were.

Today my New York City trip comes to an end. Tennessee I'm coming home!
We wrapped up our trip yesterday with a visit to Fox and Friends and also
the Today show studios. My daughter got her picture taken with Kelly (can't think of his last name - he is on Fox and Friends usually only on the weekend). Also, she got her picture taken with Stacy London (Co host of What Not to Wear), Stacy is a frequent contributor on the Today Show. Also,
I got to shake hands with Natalie Morales of the Today Show and got a photo of her as well.
A little later in the day, we went to Macy's department store. Afterwards
we walked around Times Square and went up to the "Top of the Rock", as
the Observation deck on the top of the Rockefeller Center is called.
Last night we watched the Manhattan fireworks show.
Today, we head to JFK for our flight back to Nashville.

I've heard that Mama Mia is a little less "kid friendly", but I haven't seen it, so I don't know. My kids have always loved "Beauty and the Beast" and we've seen it twice. "Les Mis" is awesome, but is over 3 hours long, if I remember right--the age of your kids might make a difference. "Phantom" is good too; we saw it in London. There are a few parts that could be a little scary if your kids are really small.

Don't forget...you can stand in line at TKTS in Times Square on the day of the show and get half price tickets. Sometimes the lines are long, but it's worth it. They don't have every show available, so you have to look at their boards. It opens at 3 pm for tickets for the 8 pm shows, I think. It opens like 9 am for the Wed. and Sat. matinee tickets.

They are renovating, the TKTS booth is currently located at the Times Square Marriott, right across from the old booth.
