Arrow His Way is not My Way

Early this morning, 4:30 a.m., I woke up hearing what sounded like a song on the radio. I will not say that it was from the Lord, but I will just tell you what happened. I guess in my dreams I heard this song, peppy song and the words were something like this, “His way is on my way..” I woke up with it ringing in my mind. I could have gotten up and written the words to the song I heard, but when I woke up it struck me how wrong the song was. And feeling compelled, I started out with the words, “His way is not on my way.”

So much “Christian” speak is disingenuous. It sounds good and often puts us in a better light than is right. We sing songs that we don’t really mean. We say things we shouldn’t really say. The motives may be good in our saying and singing, but often we are speaking out of turn.
I don’t say this to bash or ridicule, simply to make a point. There is a beautiful song that I truly love to sing and have some memories of singing in times of consecration; however the writer of these words did in fact fail the Lord quiet famously.

"His way is not my way"....the first thing I thought of was the verse from Isaiah 55:8 For my thoughts [are] not your thoughts, neither [are] your ways my ways, saith the LORD. Maybe He wants you to ask Him to direct you in his ways?

I woke up recently to the words of Acts 2:38 in my mind and I know it didn't come from the Lord. That's all it was just the words of that verse spoken with a different emphasis....it was spoken in the KJV wording but with the NIV grammatical emphasis.

We need those who even aim to harm us, to help us be perfected in our spirit and hearts to do what is right. If the hurt breeds bitterness in us, it simply illustrates we are not ready and may not ever do what we were destined to do, because we could not take what the “brothers” dished out. I regret that I have some brothers that are less that great. However, they are my brothers. They may betray, yet I don’t see a precedent for being anything but gracious and merciful to them all. Don’t mean I agree with them, simply recognize what is. They are my brothers and given a chance I must do right by them.

Christ is our example. He was wounded in the house of his friends. Betrayed by his disciple, Denied by his disciple. Deserted by the rest. Yet the ones that he appeared to and talk to the most after his death were these. Some of the most interesting discourses were with the infamous Peter.

The point that I am making today is we need to recognize that at the end of the day, we are not all that and a bag of chips. If we walk this path to glory it will not be about how holy, righteous, smart or prayerful we may be. It will be because he chose us. He forgives us. He demonstrates mercy to us.
This was interesting to me. There's truth in these here words.

May we extend to others what Christ has extended to us.

1 Peter 5:5 - 7 (KJV) 5 Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble. 6Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time: 7 Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.

All to often we are like Jesus' choosen twelve, jocking for position in the Kingdom, while Jesus is taking on the garment of the servant to wash their feet.

His way is not our way.

We seek to be exalted, He seeks to be humble.
We are prideful, He is purposeful.
We want to be with the high and mighty, He seeks the poor and needy.
We want top billing, He is meek and lowly.
