What are the characteristics of an UC?

JUST CURIOUS?

As I have stated before on this forum, I don't like labels in the Kingdom of God (the Bible states that "comparing ourselves among ourselves is not wise"...). But considering that I have heard MANY who consider themselves UC call others "liberal", my question is.... "what defines you as an UC? ......

no video?.... no slits?..... no bows?.... no patterned nylons?..... must wear nylons?.... no curls?..... no christmas trees?... or even celebrating Christmas at all?...... no open-toed shoes? no colored dress shirts?.... no rodeos?..... men's hair must parted on the side and shaved up the back?.... no clear fingernail polish? no jean skirt with a front zipper? .... no "dingle-bobs in the hair"? (a message from Canada campmeeting several years back) -----by the way, what is a dingle-bob?....

... and what if someone measures up in most of your UC standards, but not all of them... are they still UC? If you see another church that does something that you preach against, do you call them liberal even if they are conservative in all the other areas? What is the deciding factor?

OPINIONS PLEASE!!

The is the multi Million trillion dollor question that no one has figured out. I have asked it, many have asked it but there is no clear answer.

Just so you all know, I know LAD and They are VERY CONSERVATIVE so this is not coming from a LIBERAL.

trust whn i say Lad, they will think that a Lib is asking this but I can tell you all with Blessed assurance this is not the case.

i recently did a workshop for a church that is ULTRA CON to the MAX! they are independant and forbide Remarriage under any circumstances at all. end of story. BUUUUT they allow women to be Preachers. So, the AMF will not have anything to do with them. otherwise their standards were pretty similar.

I think the dividing line for most is video and remarriage

wedding rings would be another & also women preachers

OH BROTHER .... How did forget wedding rings on my list?..... (of course I don't wear one, but your right it is a point of contention..... or fellowship!!)

I have also asked this question on many occasions and have yet to receive a clear answer...

Maybe it is those that adopt whatever is the latest "candy-stick" standard that is being preached.... so that they have guaranteed admission into the UC label calling circle.

I know that the AMF will not fellowship with anyone who believes in remarriage. that is a heaven or hell doctrine end of story. Okay, but even if you teach that but allow women ministers, you're toast.
because of Verbal Bean's strong teaching on Rings that's another thing that would cause the UCs to cut you off.

Lad, a lot of has to do with music too. the UCs donot allow Robes, some do not even allow choirs. anyhow, southern gospel or very traditional old fashioned pentecostal music is allowed.

How do they even find anyone to fellowship with? Surely no one agrees on EVERYTHING!!! I wonder if they ever really consider the scripture...

"... follow PEACE WITH ALLMEN and holiness without which no man shall see the Lord"

The their ability to truly be holy (which we know is God's Holiness through us) is based upon their ability to FOLLOW PEACE with ALL men!

I have to say ... I still don't like the labels because they are so hard to define.

I would not know how to answer this question. Although some on here want to label me as an UC because I am quick to defend their right to be so, I am more of a moderate conservative maybe even just a balanced moderate Christian with respect for both ends of the spectrum, whether I agree with them on every dot or tittle or not.

I have been fellowshipped as a Brother in Christ by both the AMF and GIB as well as by those characterized as liberal. I have worshipped at PromiseLand (World of Pentecost) and at Apostolic Minister's Conference. I really don't see what all the fuss is about. Labels don't change me but maybe they benefit someone else. If they do then go ahead an label me. God knows what I really am.... or am not... as the case may be and it is His opinion that I am concerned about any way!

So, all that said, I have no idea what makes me an UC.

Judgmental - I am not speaking that they jusge those who are not in their church or who have left.

My 40 years of experience is they are constantlytaking score in their own church.

Anything from how hard someone worship's.

Also taking score on who is more committed an holy to thier standards within their church.

Many times Utra-Con's let us know we are calling them judgmental when all along we are lost in sin.

But the problem they have is they can't stop judging each other in their own ranks.

it is an interesting question.

Honestly there really isnt a lot that seperates a conservitive and an ultra con when you get down to it.

I use the term UC to discribe 2 very different things. first of all there are guys like Brother Epley and Elder Groce and Kansas Preacher that are very conservitive men. having known them for some time now, what I have found is they truely have a love for the things of God and the people they are reaching for. I very much respect them personally and I also have a great deal of respect for their views and convictions even when I dont agree.

Sometimes however, I will use the term for that cannot get along with anyone less conservitive than they are. I am not talking about preaching a guy that is a ring wearing liberal. i am talking about those that make a stink about everything.

So really there are 2 kinds of Ultra-Cons.

I don't know about this FERD. as i said, remarriage is a Deal Breaker for a truel Ultra Con. I know of a few cases one in CA. where the pastor was VERY conservative but because he was remarried or allowed, the fellowship was off

1.Passionate about Truth

2.Deep and abiding love for the Word

3.Compassionate toward people--very loving

4.Many times a true conservative will have a roguish sense of humor which endears him to many people. This is the product of his clean conscience and positive outlook on life.

5.Committed to excellence

6.Respectful to ladies, kind to children, generous to the less fortunate

7.Honorable in his dealings

8.Calm in times of adversity because his faith sees him through

9.Often handsome and possessed of great charm (Not sure why this is so often the case; perhaps it is just the favor of God)

That pretty well sums it up.
