On this very night, ten years ago, along this very stretch of road in a dense fog just like this. I saw the worst accident I ever seen. There was this sound, like a garbage truck dropped off the Empire State Building... And when they pulled the driver's body from the twisted, burning wreck. It looked like this...

If that is all we do, yes. But people can be on a mission and still debate theology.

Hmm, IMO and considering theology's first four letters is t-h-e-o, geeeee kinda like THEORY, I'd say theology is nothing but ideas and opinions, which is how organized religion was formed. But I digress (sense the sarcasm)...

ummmmmm.. THEOS means GOD in Greek. (ahem). That is where the term comes from. THEOLOGY is study of God.

Theory comes from THEORIA meaning "a looking at, viewing, beholding." Big difference.

I stand corrected, though I didn't include the "S" in my initial post. However, thank you for reminding me (seriously, with no sarcasm). Granted "theology" is the study of God, but why so many debate it is far above and beyond me. God's word is just that: God's word.

So, to make time to debate it, I honestly think those people who are more interested in debating rather than being part of the mission should go back to school. But, that's just me...

It is true that some folks are ever learning and never coming to the knowledge of the truth. We need balance in everything.

I think there's a difference between those who wish to sit around and debate all day and those who wish to exchange and discuss. That line seems very fine at times though.

In reality, holy men of God wrote when they were inspired of the Spirit. Our understanding requires more than a practical hermeneutic (though that is helpful), but it also requires the Spirit. This is where debating falls short.

I'd say that if that is all one does, the statement is true. But Christians and Jews are notorious for discussing and debating doctrine. It's what we do to sharpen one another.
