You're a very wise lady Cindy. Your statement reflects why I believe that Lee Stoneking was irresponsible in making the statement that he did. There are legitimate victims of this crime and to throw out a blanket statement does a great disservice to these hurting victims. Personally, I'm tired of people, and especially those in office, giving this fellow a pass for some of his outrageous statements and doctrines! No one will confront him and for that reason he continues on the same way today.

The quote is 1/3 into this 1998 message ...
He believes that many commit to consensual sex... and then change their stories because of the "voice of conscience".
He also believes that according to God's laws if you have sex with someone before marriage ... you are now "married" to that individual ...
It seems he was speaking of consenting adults.
Thus far the message is a call for holy conduct ... without the supernatural noise ... sorely missing in his repertoire today.
|
I've heard this for a few years and never made a big deal out of it due to lack of context. It's good to hear he meant consenting adults.

Re: LS: " I don't buy all this rape business "
LS's idea about soul attachment resulting from sex reminds me of the belief that Carlos Castaneda and his cult had. If I remember right, when people would join them they had to commit to 7 years of sexual abstinence in order to rid themselves of the "energy sucking attachments" that he taught that were left in women after sexual activity.
Almost every time I read another of LS's strange ideas, it seems that he took an occult theory and Christianized it.

Just got out of a 3 day revival with LS. Was in 3 of the 4 services. Nothing on angels. Nothing on HMH - or hair at all.
