Wine??
Prov 20:1
20:1 Wine is a mocker, strong drink is raging: and whosoever is deceived thereby is not wise.
KJV
Does this scripture mean wine is wrong as many claim?

Re: Wine??
People like to pick and choose which Proverbs to take literally. I think they may contain wisdom, but none of them are commandments.

Wine produces mockers; alcohol leads to brawls.
Those led astray by drink cannot be wise. NLT
I think the former statement is clarified by the latter.

Re: Wine??
Hab 2:15
15 Woe unto him that giveth his neighbour drink, that puttest thy bottle to him, and makest him drunken also, that thou mayest look on their nakedness!
KJV
Did Jesus violate this when he made wine for folks already drinking wine?

Woe to him(B) who makes his neighbors drink—
you pour out your wrath and make them drunk,
in order to gaze(C) at their nakedness! ESV

Jesus drank wine, and never spoke against drinking wine. As you said, he made wine.

No, Jesus did not violate either the law nor its spirit.
Take the conclusion first: "... that thou mayest look on their nakedness." within the context of verses 15-17. I also recommend reading the Jewish Publication Society (JPS) English translation of this passage.
To look upon a person's nakedness is a Hebrew idiom for observing another in a 'sexual situation' (See Gen 9:21-22), which can also include joining in with such an activity ( Leviticus 18:6-19, plus all through 20:21., not just 'seeing' someone unclothed.
Second, therefore this particular verse is a condemnation of the overt act of getting another drunk in order to engage in sex with them. We would call that today, a date rape or seduction.
The scriptures are clear. There is nothing inherently wrong or evil with drinking, even including beer and strong drink. God even approves of it, and in at least one occasion in the OT He 'instructs' men to drink alcohol ( Deuteronomy 14:22-26). However, to anyone who sees anything to be a sin for them, then indeed, to them it is a sin. ( Romans 14:20)
But, enter the doctrines of men and their philosophies and we have rules that have the look of wisdom ( Colossians 2:20-22, Titus 1:15), but serves no useful spiritual purpose.

Re: Wine??
The problem is not the wine but the purpose for which you are using it.
1. Wine at that point seems to have been anything after the pressing. Alcoholic levels would have varied.
2. When the scripture refers to New wine in old wine skins, it is refering to fermenation.
3. The use of wine (or any other substance)to become drunk (to escape reality, to "feel better", to have a "good time", or in similar ways alter your level of consciousness, is not wisdom and would seem to be outside of the proper use.
