Re: Were the Happy Goodman's Saved?

Who knows our hearts? God alone. Some may think that they know others hearts, but scripture refutes that. It also warns against judging others.

Just something that drives me crazy.
Were the Roman Pagan's saved? If not then stop using their days?

  3. Every sinner must repent of their sins.
  4. That Jesus name baptism is the only biblical mode of water baptism.

Yes, they are saved. I saved some of the albums, cassettes, videos, DVD's and CDs, and I might even have an 8-track tape of them. So, yes, they are definitely saved.

Re: Were the Happy Goodman's Saved?

I went to church with Vestel the last couple of years before she died unexpectedly. She and Howard are buried in the Christ Church Nasvhille cemetary.

The funny thing is I really didn't like Southern Gospel music when I was a young man and into music but after she died I was watching a Gaither video honoring the Goodman's music and found myself extremely blessed and moved by the powerful songs they sang.

The Rambos were for a while. Until she cut her hair and stuff. So I guess it's okay to sing the songs she wrote pre-haircut. Someone will need to find a timeline of the songs she wrote, and pinpoint when she cut her hair and we'll be good to go.

IMHO this is flawed logic. The scriptures teach us "let everything that has breath, praise ye the Lord." So.......if someone writes a song of praise or thanksgiving to God (which does not mean that they are/are not saved) and that song speaks to my heart or puts words to my hearts feelings, and subsequently I worship God via/because of the song, the author's salvational status is of little consequence.

The same thing relates to gleaning material from someone that helps me to communicate the Word of God to those I am preaching to. To follow your logic to its conclusion would mean that if I read/hear/see a story. principle, or life lesson that is not authored by a saved person I can't use it or even acknowledge its veracity because a "sinner" wrote it, said it, or experienced it.

To put it plainly, I gather material from many different genres whether it be news sources, biographies, or even fictional stories that may present a truth or principle etc and whether or not the author was/is saved does not matter.

Re: Were the Happy Goodman's Saved?

There was an older minister in the town where I grew up who loved the Rambo's music. When Dottie cut her hair and "painted up" he still loved their music, but couldn't stand to look at them in that condition. So he would buy their albums every time a new one came out, but before he carried it into the house he'd take it out to the garage and spray paint the album cover...lol. Then I guess he could listen to them and be blessed, cause he couldn't see how lost they were!
