We don't have to end so soon. There's no reason to. This is a discussion. You aren't wanting to discuss. Why is it Cons all shout "It's the plain and simple text" but when you get into exegeting that text (which is never really plain and simple) it's GAME OVER?

My... I'm observing who is quick to defend the elder brother's "lostness" so quickly and conclusively, shutting down discussion. Hmmmmmmm

Just out of curiosity, did you encounter any "Older brothers"?
Whether or not the older brother should be considered "Lost", I'm not sure but how he's labeled seems a bit beside the point, to me. From what I'm able to pull from Luke chapter 15, it appears to me, considering how the chapter begins which details the audience Jesus had, that the three parables are all a lengthy journey that Jesus took to lead the audience to the final point, which was, the reaction of the older brother. Am I wrong about that?

I'm not interested in playing "my commentator can lick your commentator."
It is obvious that we approach the Bible from such totally different paradigms that a fruitful discussion is unlikely.
You don't think the common man can read the Bible and get truth.
I do.
Never the twain shall meet.

That's what I pick up on.
And whether his status was "lost" or not, we see a type of "lostness" in the Elder Brother. "Lost, even while inside the house" (Come on, I've heard the most conservative of Pennies preach this one ha).
Jesus has extended grace to all. He loves the elder and the younger. Just as the younger brother didn't have to earn back his status of having "all that is mine," the elder brother wasn't as accepting of this entreaty since his self-righteousness was blinded by anger because his earned status was being given away in such a prodigal way to the younger brother.
I LOVE this parable btw

Nothing I will write home about. It's more sad than anything to me.
Screaming "plain and simple word" and then taking your Bible and going home is not how grown-ups play.

That's not true.
But that doesn't mean I don't believe there's value in seeking to understand the author's meaning above my own. Saying "common man" doesn't end the discussion. That's just laziness IMO.

Who is "screaming?"
My tone in this discussion has been nothing resembling emotional.
And when it comes to the Bible, I really don't "play."
This isn't just an intellectual journey for me.
Sorry you are sad.

I think you are confusing who the author is.
It isn't Luke.
You have accused me of "screaming," and now I am lazy.
Why get personal?
