Re: The Wedding

This is why I would never work for a wedding company: (Warning; a couple swear words in here.)

You said you bought your original dress at JC Penny. I've noticed that the brand American Living has some pretty stylish stuff. Most of their dresses are not all that appealing, IMO. If you have a card like me, you probably just received a $15 coupon. I just got one a couple of days ago. You could post your find on your saving money thread. LOL!

Well, good luck with it. Just make sure whatever you wear that it is you that is feeling confident in yourself. You can't be put at a disadvantage, by anyone, when you feel that way about yourself.

Oh, I got a great deal at JC Penneys. Dress and shoes were $155.00 total originally. I got them for $26.18.

I want to go back to Penney's for that reason. They have great deals this time of year. Only, it's hard to say if I can find anything I like for that great a deal.

The American Living dresses are usually on sale for $60. And they have different choices than what they show on-line, I've noticed.

Great deaL! I was walking through and saw a really pretty lavender blouse on sale for $5.97. I picked it up and then on the counter they had a blue Van Heusen dress shirt and black slacks in my husband's size. I asked the clerk if someone had set them aside to purchase. She said no. She rang up all three items and it was around $24.

Yes. RIGHT NOW is the best time of year to shop JC Penneys.

I think you will find something that suits you. I'm going to use my $15 next week. Probably new bath mats. I bought the Chris Madden sage green bath mats, washed them later and they came apart! Never buying her stuff again. Her bed sheets faded after one wash too!

Re: The Wedding

ILG, if you show her pics of the dresses and give her the choice as to which you'll wear, you are just giving her permission to exert her control over you even more than she has so far.

Don't give her that power over you.

Bleah!

One thing I really like about JCP is that their stuff is usually a very good quality. A couple years back I bought a GREAT comforter set and a really nice set of sheets for next to nothing. Would have cost me $300. original price and I paid about $50. for all of it. Am very happy with that purchase.

I disagree. I don't think allowing her to have what she wants in her own wedding is allowing her to exert control over me entirely. It is deferring to her wishes for the moment. If I did this daily, every time she did something like this to me, I would be allowing her to exert control. This is a deference for a reason and for a moment and one that I consider wise. The difference is that I have enough confidence in myself and this choice that even though it ticks me off, I will allow her to have her own way, even though I know it's self-centered because I know she cannot truly control me.

I just purchased a couple of new comforter sets that were originally $400 and I paid a little over $60 for each.

The only problem is, my husband doesn't like all that stuff on the bed or a fluffy comforter. He said, "Fine. I'm glad you found what you wanted. You can use that when company comes and stays. Otherwise, put back in the bag."
