Pel - my great-grandfather was preaching the basic Acts 2:38 message prior to WWI.
There is a book somewhere out there from Pentecostal Publishing House that references this.
I have it here somewhere, I'll try to locate it.

you seemed to have missed verse 32 and 33 and they spake unto him the word of the lord and to all that were in his house (33) and he took them the same hour of the night and washed their stripes and was baptized he and all his straightway you need to read all scripture in jesus name
