Idea's needed from creative thinkers

I am planning an Amazing Race type event and would like some thoughts on "task" to complete.

Remember it is only a 1 day event and have a cut off of 1,000 racers. Could have as many as 50 - 75 people at one place to complete a task, depending on the difficulty of the task.

I want it difficult enough to not be boring but not so hard that you want to give up.

Some suggestions I have seen are doing puzzles like sudoku.

I was thinking if I could find a paint ball location that would be fun.

Any suggestions?

Have the contestants advance to a table, facing a judge looking at a rather obscure verse in the bible not seen by the contestants. Only if they quote it letter perfect can they advance to the next task.

Judge says to the contestant, "Quote Joshua 1:1." Well, maybe not that obscure.

Umm I didn't mention that probably MOST of the contestants probably won't be Christian or at least Pentecostal.

Re: Idea's needed from creative thinkers

Remember, airports are the slow pokes friend! Involve at least three stops at an airport terminal which gives those in last place time enough to catch up to the couple in first.

What? No airports you say? Simple solution: Designate a table as "the airport terminal" and make everyone who reaches that station stay until the last person or couple arrives.

I don't know if the goal is to work in pairs but if so, remember to take these pointers from the real Amazing Race and have at least one dating couple who eventually break up due to the incredible stress put on them as well as one overtly gay one.

Oh yes, an eyeball eating contest at some point will go a long way toward entertaining the spectators!

How about John 11:35?
