So amid all the comebacks I'm seeing here, would anyone like to address the initial idea, including you, Sister Alvear, that the use of a credit card to buy something is a way in which the devil takes a blow in some way? Or, was that just overly-spiritualized hyperbole?

I'm have spent a number of years as a businessman which was a very successful career in which I learned just how damaging recreational credit can be. So even though you and I share conservative ideals, you've quite shocked me with your credit-card-devil-beating theology. If you REALLY wanted to defeat the devil with this stove thing, then you could have said nothing to anyone and allowed God to drop one in your lap. Now THAT would REALLY have shown the devil!!

The reality of it all is, the devil has no idea your old stove broke or that you got a new one. Stoves, like cars, fans, air conditioners, batteries, etc., wear out. That's not because of the devil, but because they are finite items, subject to displacement. In the REAL WORLD, things wear out, we replace them and the devil never even notices.

OldPaths II, As much as I hate credit cards, they are not "of the devil". Neither are banks or other loan institutions.

Perhaps we should both have chipped in to buy the missionary a stove??? I can certainly understand that it might be an essential for her!

While I don't know if the devil broke the stove or Tommy Tenney's pulpit, I do believe God can and does use such things for his glory - be they happen stance or otherwise. All things work together for good.

maybe over here is not the real world...ha... you must not know me...I don´t even have a bank account( over here) and use a credit card seldom...I do not think anyone that knows me would think I use a credit card loosely...

I don´t think there is anything wrong with me sharing that I needed a stove or telling what happened...I was not at home when it happened however you must not deal everyday with devil worship on the same level as we have it here...
You have never seen what I have seen...frogs with their mouths sewed together with my picture in the mouth...found black candles at your door, had witchdoctors come to kill you...seen people wiggle like snake and foam at the mouth...vomit demons...
Seen people swallow glass...drink liquor and not even smell like they drank for according to them it was the demons that drank not them...watched them dance and beat drums and go into trances...speak to me in English...

I WORK AND LIVE WITH A PEOPLE THAT CAME FROM DEEP DEVIL WORSHIP... just found perfume bottles and offerings to the devil just the other day someone put in my yard...would tell you more things but doubt if you believe what I have written...
I believe what I wrote...
My stove was old but not wore out....

Re: Well...guess I should go buy a stove...

I have needed lots of things I never mentioned on a forum or a newsletter...in fact you will see few times in my whole ministry that I have asked for myself...generally it is for others...I FELT LIKE SHARING THE NEED AND GOD SUPPLIED. I AM DEEPLY GRATEFUL. For 2 years I needed a better fridge but mentioned it to no one...out of the clear blue sky someone gave me one...
