Pride?

In your words what is pride? Can you give an example in your life when you was dealing with pride? Or you know an example in someone elses life you can use, or bibical characters. Did you overcome it? If so, how did you overcome pride? Just curious if anyone has any insight on this topic. God bless.

I don't know. I've never encountered pride nor do I know the definition thereof.

Re: Pride?

Unhealthy pride is when you think of yourself more highly then you ought to. Satan thought he should be like God, and was cast down and lost his place in heaven.

We are to be meek in spirit, in honor preferring one another. Not judging and condemning each other.

Not consigning each other to hell, but gently entreating each other in the love of the Lord, as we would a Mother, Father, Sister, or Brother.

Re: Pride?

So if pride is wrong would complete self depreciation be right? Are you ever allowed to feel good about an accomplishment? This is actually a serious question.

Re: Pride?

feeling good about our accomplishments is healthy pride imho. We are seated in heavenly places in Christ Jesus. We believe that we are his children and he hears and answers our prayers, and provides for our needs. We trust him to help us be productive, accomplished members of society. We give him the glory for all that we are.

Self deprecation could be counter productive imo.

Re: Pride?

A worker should have pride in his work. This kind of pride is a healthy pursuit of perfection to produce an accomplished work worthy of praise and, eventually, money to feed himself and his family. If he makes a mistake in his work, he fixes it knowing that sometimes mistakes happen, but earnestly attempt to avoid the same mistakes in the future. If this worker thinks too highly of himself, when he does slip up, with the mindset of thinking "he is so great he never makes mistakes", so that when he does make a mistake?.....it crushes him.....it crushes his pride. And, then he must start over, correcting his attitude and outlook, focusing now on the work, rather than the worker. Pride in the work vs. pride in self. A worker should always strive to be improving, with a goal toward perfection, to provide a better, more finished work.
