Please Pray

I understand that the neccessity of Baptism in Jesus name is a debated topic on this forum. I am NOT interested in a debate! So for those of you who may believe otherwise, you can simply disregard the remainder of this post.

Soon after God filled me with the Holy Ghost i became aquainted with a lady pastor in my area who belived in the Baptism in the Spirit and the operation of spiritual gifts. She was, for a while, the only person i knew or had contact with that had the Holy Ghost. She was a great mentor to me and had a great impact on my early relationship with God. As a young man (14-16), i felt the call of God to preach and she opened her pulpit to me many times and also talked to other area pastors and opened several oppurtunities for me to preach in different churches. The last time i preached at her church i had already made the decision to be baptized in Jesus name. We sat down after the service and discussed it for close to 2 hours. I was rebaptized shortly thereafter and never was invited back to her church to preach. She is a very precious lady that loves God and we have continued to have dialouge. I still love and respect her and she shows the same toward me. She has recently been treated for cancer and my understanding is that she is being released from the hospital with hospice. I am asking anyone who would, to please pray for one more open door that i may talk to this precious lady about being baptized in Jesus name. Please pray that God would open the eyes of her understanding. She has the Holy Ghost but desparately needs to be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ. As i said, i'm not looking for a debate or negative feedback. I would just like to get some who believe this message to pray for this precious soul and an open door.

Thank You
Bro Casey

Re: Please Pray

No worries here; there is no debate with me on the baptism in Jesus' name. There's no other name, period. Will definitely be praying...

While I don't believe that baptism in Jesus name is salvational I do believe it is the Biblical method for baptism. I have no problem praying with you that your conversation with this lady results in her choosing to be baptized in Jesus name. I just don't believe her eternal destination is based on whether she does it or not.

"We did not wear uniforms. The lady workers dressed in the current fashions of the day, ...silks...satins...jewels or whatever they happened to possess. They were very smartly turned out, so that they made an impressive appearance on the streets where a large part of our work was conducted in the early years.

"It was not until long after, when former Holiness preachers had become part of us, that strict plainness of dress began to be taught.

"Although Entire Sanctification was preached at the beginning of the Movement, it was from a Wesleyan viewpoint, and had in it very little of the later Holiness Movement characteristics. Nothing was ever said about apparel, for everyone was so taken up with the Lord that mode of dress seemingly never occurred to any of us."

Re: Please Pray

Thank you for praying. Talked to another brother today who is familiar with this lady and hoped to talk to her as well. Just pray for God to give revelation.
