In that culture women wore long dresses while men wore "skirts"...there was a clear distinction

This would have been a good argument if the discussion was gender ROLES and not gender clothing

The male robes had breaches.

Here is some more info. from Rabbi Shraga Simmons

MEN'S CLOTHING AND WOMEN'S CLOTHING

Even though in the old days everyone wore robes, the robes made for men were different than the robes made for women. Therefore, if a man were to wear a woman's robes (or vice versa) they would be in violation of the Torah commandment that states: "Male garb shall not be on a woman, and a man shall not wear a feminine garment, for anyone who does so is an abomination of the Almighty." (Deuteronomy 22:5)

The Book of Mitzvah Education, Sefer HaChinuch, explains that the purpose of this mitzvah is to help maintain a separation between the sexes. If, however, men and women were to wear each other's clothing, they would eventually become intermingled with each other constantly until they would be so mixed together they would fall into licentiousness. (The Book of Mitzvah Education, Sefer HaChinuch #542)
First of all robes don't have breeches. People wear breeches.

Second the fact you are missing is both wore ROBES as outer garments. Yes there may have been distinctions but that makes their point, not yours

Their point is pants are outer garments and there are distinctions between men's pants and women's pants

Lastly only priests wore breeches.

ISBE
brich´iz, brēch´iz: A garment, extending from the waist to or just below the knee or to the ankle, and covering each leg separately. Breeches are not listed among the garments of an ordinary wardrobe, but the priests in later times (Exo_20:26) wore a garment resembling modern trousers. These priestly linen breeches, מכנסי בד, mikhneṣē bhadh, were worn along with the linen coat, the linen girdle and the linen turban by Aaron on the Day of Atonement, when he entered the "holy place." (The word מכנסי, mikhneṣē is derived from a root, כנס, kānaṣ = גנז, gānaz, "to cover up," "hide.") Ordinary priests also wore them on sacrificial occasions (Exo_28:42; Exo_39:28; Lev_6:10; Eze_44:18).

There is no such thing as a pair of womens britches (jeans, whatever). There are certain jeans I would not wear because they are tight fitting, the wrong color, or the wrong length. That is the problem, the devil has used the fashion industry to dress up something that belongs to a man and market it to a woman using colors women prefer, or designs women prefer. Sorry, but it is still a pair of pants that neither gender should wear. I don't let the world dictate to me what I wear.
