Sure. However, this thread addresses opinions and personal preferences that we are presumably too polite to discuss in most public venues. It isn't my job to make any effeminate man more masculine. I don't have that ability, anyway. That doesn't mean I'm going to be attracted to an effeminate man, simply because I have the knowledge that it isn't my place or within my reach to change them in any way. And we definitely teach our girls to look for "manly men" when looking for husband material. In today's culture, women are groomed to see passivity as being preferred in a man, but in reality that ends up being boring and unattractive. I'd rather tousle with a little too much testosterone than the other way around.

It IS important to note that a man being effeminate is a sin; it isn't homosexual behaviors alone that are wrong. Therefore, it's just as important for Christians to be aware of this as it is that they know to avoid adultery, lying or stealing. And the fact that it's classified with other optional behaviors tells me that effeminacy is just as much a choice as anything else. It can be learned, unlearned and chosen or not. (I Corinthians 6:9-10)

I looked up "effeminate" from I Corinthians.

Greek word - malakos, meaning: Of uncertain affinity; soft, that is, fine (clothing); figuratively a catamite: - effeminate, soft.

Interestingly enough, a "catamite" was a boy in ancient Greece who was "kept" by a pedophile.

Also interesting is the reference to "fine (clothing)."

This is a soapbox of mine, so I'll save it for another thread, but I do believe it's ideal for a woman to be the primary caretaker of her home and children--especially small children. That said, there's room for other arrangements as long as both husband and wife are in agreement.

If a man uses the word "salmon" to describe a color punch him in the eyeball for being a girly man.

That's funny because my Dad had a polyester 3-piece suit from the 70's that he insisted on calling "salmon" and my mother called it "pink", to his great consternation. She finally managed to get rid of it--but there's a picture somewhere of him wearing it, preserved forever for viewers to decide for themselves whether it was pink or salmon.

Re: How feminine is too feminine?

Lord, I hope this does not get back to my soon to be ex-husband, because I do still love him so much.

BUT.....even though he tried the manly man walk and was a girl chaser, he really was and still is very effeminate. He used to take me clothes shopping, buy my clothes and literally told me what to wear for years, because I was not a "good dresser", or so he told me and I believed him. He also has a high pitched voice. He sings a GREAT tenor.

So really, you can be effeminate and still be a man.

And now that he no longer goes to church and is dating someone, he is OVER THE TOP in what he wears when they go out.

So will the effeminate see the kingdom of God?

the guy who wears a pink shirt and prefers books to baseball but loves Jesus will.

the guy who sleeps with other guys and doesn't repent, no.

Re: How feminine is too feminine?

Well, I read this and laughed. I shave when I feel like it. I like my railroad t-shirts and I wear western clothing for good. I have a buckskin coat to impress the ladies with. They love my buckskin coat but none of them will date me. Why ????????????????????
I wear wrangler western shirts with the metal buttons. They are stylish and have western picture themes on them.
I like russian winter hats because they are very warm.

These qualties I believe make me a "man's" man. I would rather be down at the railroad tracks watching trains than looking for a babe.
I like cats because I have smart ones.
Catch you all later, deafdriscoll

I wear pink shirts, and pink ties. Can sing higher then most women. I can cook, clean the house, and I am great with kids.

Does that make me effeminate? NO!
Because I, enjoy sports, outdoors, and other "manly" things. Have a manly profession.

But, I do understand where the thoughts of some musicians effeminate comes from. Say if you play the piano from a young age (like I), the first thing the teach you is to "Relax your wrist!" So that explains your limp-wristedness in most musicians.

Re: How feminine is too feminine?

Are we talking about them guys with the puffed up hair on top and wear them thick gay looking glasses?
