Oklahoma Earthquakes

Okay, this is getting old already!!!!

4.7 Friday night (+ light aftershocks), then a 5.6 Saturday night followed by multiple aftershocks and we just had another 4.7.

Weird. And I don't like it. Tornadoes I can handle. I know what to do, where to go and how long to stay there! Earthquakes are a whole different ballgame. I'm NOT a Californian!!!!!

Re: Oklahoma Earthquakes

"...Oklahoma typically had about 50 earthquakes a year until 2009. Then the number spiked, and 1,047 quakes shook the state last year, prompting researchers to install seismographs in the area. Still, most of the earthquakes have been small." --NY Daily News

Yeah, the one Saturday night was pretty strong. I wish I'd had the presence of mind to look outside and see if the ground was moving. It's on my agenda for the *next time.*

Re: Oklahoma Earthquakes

We have friends who live in central KSl, and they reported on Facebook about it. They felt it clear up there. You guys can keep it, because the last earthquake to hit the Mississippi River area was beyond devastating. I can really go the rest of my life without seeing a repeat of 1811-12.

Re: Oklahoma Earthquakes

Never experienced an earthquake personally. I know there have been a few that could be felt in this area, but they were so small that not everyone felt them. Sounds kind of scary to me.

Re: Oklahoma Earthquakes

I saw a friend of mine mention this on Facebook earlier tonight. Also, another friend mentioned an earthquake in Arkansas too.

Re: Oklahoma Earthquakes

Although I didn't actually feel it, I did hear a popping noise come from the attic as if the rafters had shifted...
