Speaking of casinos...my brother fell into the trap that his preacher set when he told the congregation that God blesses you more abundantly when you sacrificially give. So he went to a payday loan place and borrowed $400 and gave it to the church, then told his wife that he would "prosper" from giving. (paraphrased) His wife chided him for falling into what she calls the "god casino".

Ignorant...I know...but so many sincere people hear stuff like this and go out and do ignorant things. He not only did not prosper, he had to pay a high interest rate on that $400.

Yep there it is no one knows what they give(which is generally little or nothing) yet they want to know where every dime they didn't give is going. You couldn't build a church on a million of them.

I announced the second time that ONLY MEMBERS were allowed to speak at the church business meeting and dismissed her to leave the building! She was a big mouth and a trouble maker and caused trouble every where she went and didn't give a red cent!

Brother Epley, you jumped to conclusions without answering my question. I asked you a specific question as to how you know what people are giving.

Let me rephrase that question then. How do you know how much anybody, in general, who goes to your church gives every week?

You would be surprised at some of the names I've heard ministers call people in their church system. I once heard a young man who proclaimed himself to be a minister call an older woman a "battle ax' simply because she showed no emotion during the service.

This woman probably would not be called a "big heifer" had she gave her tithe, sat down and shut up.
