Re: Modesty Covers
I said that was what I was told. If it is true, and I have heard of stranger things in worship, I was not aware of it, and neither was he. I never could verify the precise events to my personal satisfaction (an occurance that is never likely). However, I have seen and heard far more stories of occurances like that in worship. God does get the glory, because He is the only one who could preserve both life and limb.

Good answer. God isn't "in" lots of our human responses to His presence; nevertheless, overwhelming emotion can happen and people can respond in crazy ways.
I would be less likely to say "God isn't IN your actions" and more likely to say "If you are overwhelmed and can't keep standing up, then you need to wear longer skirts to church--just in case."
Okay, TBH, I wouldn't say that to ANYONE. But it is a nice wish in the back of my head.
God isn't nearly as offended by people acting silly as we are. He sees those women when they're in the shower; I doubt if He's offended by the sight of their knees. We are the ones who are offended, so it's a social propriety thing; not a matter of whether He is "in it." That does go along with the instruction for all things to be done decently and in order. Social propriety does matter, because God doesn't get a lot of glory if you're offending people by flashing them glances of your tighty whiteys.
Lessons in manners.
Gentle suggestions about wearing different clothing.
Nothing at all to do with spirituality.
A lot to do with ignorance, which can be remedied.
Unless it's utter stupidity, in which case you can't ever get them to change. So look away, I guess. :P

Re: Modesty Covers
I heard a story of a young lady who prayed through to the Holy Ghost, and on the night that she was baptized, she was wearing a skirt that was a bit short. When she got back from changing clothes, she started worshipping in the Apostolic way, without instruction, all of them men immediately faced the wall so that she could worship without anybody being in appropriate. These things will happen, and they always work themselves out.

Re: Modesty Covers
Having never been to a Klingon ceremony such as that, I would not know. However, I do know that it was done to protect her modesty.

But that's my point. If some one had to do something to protect her modesty was God causing her to be immodest or was she causing the immodesty by her own actions?
What glory does God get out of someone running into a wall, hitting someone in the face, falling down and exposing their body?,.....and the list goes on!
It turns out what we talk about is the actions of a particular individual and the reputation they have for "walking on the back of the pews, always being the first to take off running, screaming or what ever "they" do!" and not about the goodness and greatness of God.
Who gets the glory? Think about it!

Many years ago after our church finished its new building we were visiting a different congregation on a Saturday night to hear someone specific (whom I cannot remember now) preach. Afterwards we were visiting with some of the members there and one middle aged guy (who was probably 40 but then again I was 18 or 19 so he seemed middle aged to me) quite literally bragged about how he was there during the opening of our building and gave the first public message in tongues. In my mind I am barely trying to keep from laughing and saying "Well big woopdie diddlie doo!".
To this day I still remember that smug look on his face and think about where he went shortly after that evening.

Great point BT
You'll never get a straight answer about any of this for those who promote their particular brand of Shockamoo antics.
They believe it's all for the glory of God, when in fact in the vast majority of these corn ball displays, they seek their own glory...
.whooooop whoooppppp look at me, look at me. I am being belsssed very much.
When you have to explain to guests about your behavior using scriptures like, "they ran thru a troop and jumped over a wall" you have clearly.... well enuf said.
