I recommend The Myth of a Christian Nation by Greg Boyd on this topic.

If Christians are not willing to be involved in politics, who will be the righteous that rule? Who will be the people that elect them?

Your quote, to me, wherein God has already assumed that we are just going to do it our way, yes? just validates my point. Men's authority will always devolve.
I'd say your Q answers itself; the righteous should rule, outside politics. There will be no elections, as true rulership, at least this vision of it I see, is just not of that nature. Power assumed and correctly used by an inspired individual (in the Church) for Truth, just ends up being in a lead role for a minute, maybe...

Maybe I should take the opposite extreme... how can a Christian not be politically active when our very laws give them a voice, a vote. Should they soften their voice so that no one can hear them? I think not. They should vote for that is their legal right, their voice and that voice was given to them so that they could use it. When they choose not to vote they are choosing to do nothing about the injustices in our nation and doing nothing is evil.

bbyrd, I concur with your premise about politics.
Politicians do not work for God or for the people. I've made the statement before that to live under God's rule is true freedom and we are under bondage under man's rule.

I would say that this is the deception, and that your ending can be accomplished better without it. Our image of what electing to an office should be simply does not, and will not ever, conform to reality.

Well, apparently not all of us. Let's say a remnant? : )

Well obviously, in light of later comments especially, I'd say that our belief needs a leader! (since I doubt either of us ID's much with anarchy...)
When are elections good for you? (Oh, and of course, we'll have to exclude those two)

Re: Politics is "Of the World?"
I have found that most people who do not vote wish to scream about the direction that things go.
I vote as often as I find out about an election. I try to pick the best candidate, and then live with my choice.
The Declaration of Independence and the Constitution established us as the rulers of our nation, not the politician. Therefore, I can not as a good ruler refrain from participating in the government. I must also work with fellow rulers to ensure that our laws are good, just, and morally proper. If others have a problem with that, that is too bad. God ordained human government, and this is ours.
