Snake Handling Easter Service in WSJ

I'm from West Virginia. I have never been to a snake handling church, but have conversed online with some people that attend. Many of them believe Acts 2:38 salvation. I count them brethren...misguided brethren. Yes

Quite a few years ago I used to preach once in a while in a small store front church in Cincinnati called The Apostolic Tabernacle. The usual congregation was an elderly pastor and his wife (both preachers, co-pastors), my wife, and I. I had an appointment to preach for them on a future Saturday night and they called me and told me they had "sold" their church to another group but with the provision that I would still be the speaker that Saturday night. I think I went by myself but I'm not sure now. That was more than 50 years ago and we had to take a bus (city transit) to the meeting. The Church was now called The Church of the Lord Jesus Christ and there were quite a few people there for the service. I didn't recognize any of them. There were no salvations, water baptisms, or Holy Ghost Baptisms that night. i heard later that they were from West Virginia and were snake handlers but I didn't see or hear anything there that night that indicated that. I was not invited back and never did go back. I don't ever remember hearing or seeing of that local at any of the local fellowship meetings (some times battleship meetings) we had back then.

I guess I speak with tongues just about every day but I don't think it is a "should" thing

I believe that a person should speak in tongues as often as the Spirit moves them into that place (dependant upon their ability to surrender to the moving of the Spirit). I do not believe that it is a necessity to speak in tongues every day, but would say that one should seek to do so with regularity. I do believe that the more regularly that one surrenders to the Spirit, the greater the possibility for future use. Paul's statement to the Corinthian church would seem to bear this out.

That is as close to a snake handling service I ever want to get.
